@ldotsfan: Yes, I was generalising about the purpose of lxhdm...! smile.gif I've not tried it specifically in that mode either, (I'm away from home at the moment so can't get to an Xbox), but it should work. The key thing (I think) is that relaunching the dashboard doesn't check the lock status of the disk or attempt to unlock / relock it, so as long as the disk is unlocked by the hotswap it should work.

You could achieve the same sort of thing with hotswap and ftp - I'm sure that Krayzie wrote a tutorial on Xbox to Xbox hotswap that used ftp, and relied on the UnleashX ftp server being happy to reread a disk when the remote directory list was refreshed.

@aide24: If you have a recent (Halo 2 or later) live enabled game then do as Bomb Boke suggested, then go for a conventional gamesave softmod. If you haven't got a live enabled game then try one of the two methods I described in my previous post. Go for the Xplorer360 option first.

Ok, Maybe I am missing something, but this is a no brainer to me.

Reddevil, Easy fix.

First, FORGET ABOUT HOTSWAPPING. Unless you want to kill some hard drives.

The first thing you should have done here is backed up your softmod xbox's eeprom. Assuming you did, read on.

Step 1. Back-up your chipped xbox's eeprom and then unlock the HD using configuration magic.
Step 2. Take your eeprom backup from your softmod xbox and open it in live info.
Step 3. Convert it so that it is compatible with your chipped xbox version and then flash this to your chipped xbox making your xbox's "twins". (I would have done this automatically as it is easier IMO than xbhdm)

Step 4. Install the 80gb HD into your chipped xbox and then cold boot slayers.
Step 5. Copy the original 5960 dash files to this 80gig drive making it "Stock" and then lock it using config mag.
Step 6. Put this 80gig HD in your non-chipped xbox, fire it up and softmod from here.

Optional: From here, you can either re-lock your chipped xbox HD and leave them "Twins" or restore your chipped xbox eeprom back-up to it (I would leave them "twins" for future repairs/hd upgrades with ease).

you should never make a xbox a twin (it causes network errors and others)
all you need to to is "Edit on the fly" the HDD Key and make them the same...
then relock in configmagic
no need to worry about versions

Good point,

So then Red,

Following my above post, after step 3, Edit your mac address (change the last number up one or down one) using config magic so that it is different than that of your other xbox, as It is easier/safer editing your mac addy on the fly rather than editing HD key on the fly. Then move on to step 4.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
