Usb To Xbox Help

Hey, im fairly new to modding (soldering wires, etc for xbox)

My mate said you can get a USB female (so you can plug a usb thing into it) and mod it so it can go into an xbox, so i've chopped an old xbox controller lead that i dont need, then stripped the wires on both leads

The usb wire has a red wire, black wire, green wire and a white wire.

The xbox wire has a red wire, green wire, white wire, yellow wire (i know u dont use it lol) and thats it, no black wire?

Is it a bad xbox wire? If so, shall i see if i can get another one?
Thanks,

Reply ASAP please! Want to get it done before today.

Thanks.

The wire colours are irrelevant - manufacturers can use whichever colour they like. Use this guide.

Why? That would only work if the manufacturers of the two cable assemblies (both made using the cheapest cable possible, from the cheapest source they could find) used the same colours for the same signal.............

Do what it says in the guide I linked to 4 posts back........

QUOTE
Q: How do I use this information?
A: After stripping both cables use a continuity checking device such as a battery and a light or a multimeter to find out which wire goes to which pin. Then simply connect the matching numbers!
For example, connect +5V wire on the USB cable to the +5V wire on the XBOX cable.

CW,

Make sure that when you stripped the plastic insulation off the cable, you didn't inadvertently cut off the black wire and left it in the insulation. I have done this before accidentally. You should have a black wire, a red wire, a green wire, a white wire and a yellow. Unless your from Africa or China or some sh!t, lol.

I dunno what all this other crap is about but your answer should have been as simple as mine.

If you need further help, I'm glad to assist.
