The reason they don't specifically mention component video cables is because there are a NUMBER of cables types that could possibly carry an HD signal:

Colorstream (aka component)
RGB
SCART (RGB)
VGA
DVI-I
DVI-D
M1
HDMI
J-D (H4)


Don't forget about firewire (IEEE1394) which I think can carry sound too.

Feels like sony really jipped you guys with no hdmi cable for 600 bucks you should have gotten a whole lot more than wifi and a wireless sixaxxis controller

Really because it is estimated they are losing $240 per unit?  I think we jipped Sony.
