Red And Green Lights Of Death...?

Hello folks,

I hope i'm posting this in the right place, if not i'm sorry.
A few months ago i bought a cheap second hand xbox, and softmodded it. I used the hotswap method- and the slayers splinter cell exploit.
I have a 2003 xbox either version 1.2 or 1.3.

Pretty much since day one, my xbox won't turn on again, after i turn it off- I get red and green flashing lights. Try turning it on and off a number of times and usually it works again. I suspect it may be a power or possibly heat issue.
Exactly the same happens if i resort back to the original dashboard- and deactivate the softmod. -(Am not actually using my original C -drive data to restore it as have lost it- am using a downloaded one.)

Does your xbox boot to an error code on the screen or does it try to start 3 times and then FRAG (flash red and green)?

Hi there thanks for the reply most of the time my xbox tries to boot 3 times and then fails- although to me at times it seems to only appear to try and boot once and fail.- I don't seem to get any error messages on the screen.- even when I am using the xbox dash.

If i keep turning it on and off, eventually it will turn on- but i seem to have noticed that when it has been on for a while, it is less likely to turn on.

Hmm...

Aside from your softmod, has your xbox been modified any other way? Previouly installed modchip, LED's, anything like that?

As far as I am aware it hasn't been modified, in any other way. I bought the console from Game second hand- it had some Game security Seals over the screws- so had been opened by them at some point.
