Phillips Dvd Drive Problems
« on: January 24, 2009, 06:41:00 PM »

I bought the xbox used a few months ago. and it gave me problems from the get go.  The box gave me the BSOD with no error code shortly after I softmodded it.  So I opened it up and reseated the connections and it went away, thought it was good to go.

But in XBMC, as well as DVD2XBOX, it tells me there's nothing in the drive.  It knows when its open, but tells me its empty, regardless of what's in there.  However, if I boot the box with a game in the drive, it plays fine.  Also works with DVDX Dongle Free to play DVDs.  So is the drive just plain going bad, or have I misconfigured something?

Thanks for advance for any help!

There are several things to look at and do.

First, did you softmod with Krazie's Ndure 1.1.1? It is the most stable softmod out there. You can change to it using CASH Ver 1.1 or Frosty's Rescue Disk.

With the Xbox reading games from a cold boot it seems the problem may lie with the mod.

Have you opened the drive and tried cleaning the laser? Sometimes that is all that is needed.
