My Fan Is Doing Too Much Noise
« on: January 20, 2009, 10:28:00 PM »

Hello friends of X-S, i just bought another XBOX from eBay and I noticed it does a noise considerably louder than any other XBOX i had, i took a look at the fan and it was pretty dusted so i cleaned it but it still doing the same noise, i think i need to use some OIL on the fan`s bearings, any one already did it? Is it secure? What oil should i use?

I cleaned it without opening the console since its not modded and still having the Microsoft warranty seal

Thanks for everyone

I know what you mean but its a collectors item i would prefer to mantain it like this, but no problem, if really need i may open it

I`m also preety sure there isn`t anything in contact with the fan, i`m sure its the fan itself, do you know anything about fan lubrification?

You can try to oil it with some thin oil (sometimes called sewing machine oil.) It is my experience that a bad blower usually have bearings that worn out. Even if you oil it, the problem will come back after a short period of time. Replacing is the only good option. I don't think the repair of Microsoft for the xbox1 still means a lot. I heard rumours they quickly inform you to purchase a xbox360.

regards.

Well i think i gonna need to replace it

In the X360 i know for a fact that you can remove your warranty seal without damaging it by heating it

Is that possible with the original xbox seal?

What kind of xbox is it? Just get another regular one for $40?

There's no way, other than probably that heating method that would work

News: I managed to remove the seal without any damage by heating it (the same metod as the X360 warranty seal)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Now i need to buy a new fan, its a 1.6v XBOX, the fans are intercompatible between any hardware version or i need to buy exactly a fan from a 1.6 XBOX?

any xbox fan will work

also, I understand you are only lifting the stickers to make it look like you havent opened it, but we do not condone the discussion of it, especially on things where it can be construed as fraud (360)
