I waited a  long time before the ps3, even used, got cheap enough to bother with.

I modded an orig. xbox, worked out the cards for some portable  systems, modded a wii and a 360.

I found a used ps3, $140 with connections and controller.

Upon closer inspection it's 160gb CECHP01 and has 3.66 OFW.

From what I've read here and elsewhere, it's stuck where it is, can't be downgraded, can't be customised.

What else can a homebrew-nut do to amuse himself tinkering with this new toy??

Further question:

Can a "demo console" be softmodded? I could care less about the online store. I just want to be able to tinker and install CFW for a variety of reasons.

If any, or even a certain few types, of demo consoles would allow me to do this, please elaborate. Here or in IM.
