I am super new to the scene on the ps3 side but a veteran of the 360 side of things. I am looking to mod a ps3 and iam looking at a bunch of different usb programmers and what not. I can get a good deal on the ps3jailbreak usb stick and I was wondering if this is still a good way to go and will it accomplish the same thing as the other atmel boards?

If I buy one of these suckers , is that all i need?

If anyone has any feedback on this device it would be much appreciated.

I might go with a ps3key from team wiikey but its a little more expensive. Which one do you guys recommend?

You'll be ok with any jailbreak device which is updateable.

I am not a reseller! I had a USB SPI from DIY. Then I bought the Maximus AVR. Which is easier to program and get the files. The usb connection kinda sucked so i put in a case to protect it and have a better usb connection.

There is no denying the simplicity of the PS3Key. Its the most compact and the files and programming software is posted on there site. It is the easiest of the three to program. Why? Because you select the file you want to load and click update! Thats it!

PS3Key is the smallest device and is contained in a nice case! 32KB flash some other products only have 16KB flash

When programing the USB SPI From DIY It was several steps and didnt always program the first time for me.

The real problem is there are to many choices and then you have to program for the specific device.

It depends on what you mean by updated. As of now you must have firmware 3.41. They most likely figure out different firmwares in the future however.

They had to figure out new new exploits for the PSPs new firmwares all the time. I assume it will be a similar situation.

I recommend the PS3Key because of how easy it is to upgrade and the compactness. The software is consumer friendly and is self explanatory.

All of the USB Jailbreak devices allow one common thing, they let you use backup manager to play your games off your hard drive but it require one real game in the drive all the time.

That being said...Updates have been made that let you play games without a disc in the DVD Drive (not all games work without a game disc yet) This would be an example of an update you would need to do to your jailbreak device if you desired its function.

The jailbreak device will prob work for you now but in the future they might be able to do something different with an update and you will be in the dark on it.

You also gotta remember that as games get updates they might have to do things a little different to be able to play them. I would highly recommend something upgradeable

I second this, if you don't have an existing device that's been ported to, futureproof yourself and go for a teensy++ 2.0 with 128kb.

Those more knowledgable on these matters than I state that PICs have better longevity compared to AVRs due to the way each handle data allocation.
