Can I just buy a reader like this:

Then rip my collection to my external hdd for use with my JB ps3?
Or do I have to use the ps3 for ripping?

well since as its a BDrom drive....it might work...just ensure you get the two folders plus the SFB file from the game and put all together in a folder that have the game's identity number so it can launch with your backup loader

No, it won't work. You have to use the PS3.
