i don't know but use one of these:

(scroll down to bottom)

http://psx-scene.com...mp;d=1286316282

or

thanks to iLLNESS
hermesv3payload

PSGrooPIC_1.7a-3.41_18Fxxxx-LEDB145C0-BTLDR.zip
(i don't know the Mhz of this main.hex)

anyway as i see the only difference between the pic18f2455 and pic18f2550 is the program memory ( 24K / 32K)

I used these files to program the PIC18f2455 and works like a charm!!!

this is the dev.board what i have.
http://www.diygadget...ic-18f2455.html

Download pack :
contain:
-windows driver for the board
-the programmer
-and the latest hex (psgroove hermes) with peek poke and works with backup manager v2 (no blu-ray disc support)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WMFT2K6Y

when iam loaded the hex i've got a pop-up window with 3 options (yes,no,cancel). i've choose "no" then click programm device and when it finished came an error message but the board is succesfully programmed and works!!!

Hi everyone I just tried this method and I'm getting "An Unknown Device has been connected" error when the PS3 turns on.

Here is my info:

I am using:

  IPB Image

At first I tried exactly as said and chose "no" during the flashing process.  I got the same error, "Unknown device connected"

Second time I reflashed and hit "cancel".  I'm still getting the same error.

Both times the light remains red on the microchip.  I've gotten the payload to work with my droid so I'm pretty sure my timing isn't off when it comes to powering up the ps3.

Can someone please guide me as what to do next?  Did I disable the development board by hitting "no" during the flashing process?

 Thanks

I was listening to iLLNESS and another person talking in irc about the hex files and apparently, the  frequency of the crystal and actual Pic (as long as it's in the 18F family) aren't important if you use a bootloader. When you flash your 360 usb spi, that prompt comes up with yes, no, cancel for the bootloaders settings. You hit cancel because the device already comes with the bootloader set up with the right configuration. The hex has it's own device settings, but they are ignored if you hit cancel. That's why iLLNESS's hex file is labeled 18Fxxxx. At least, that's what I understood from the conversation.

As for the " Unknown Device  connected" message on your ps3, is install package and app/home still showing up? With Waninkoko's payload (psgroopic 1.6x), the device (in this case, the 360 usb spi jtag board) turns off after the payload is delivered and an error message (can't remember which) pops up on your ps3 over and over again until you unplug the board. Also, you did remember to move the jumper out of bootloader mode, right?

Thanks got it working now!  All I did was connect the jumper and then disconnect it.  Now I see install package and app/home showing up!  I wonder why I had to reseat the jumper...

The red light is on but I guess it just stays on in this case.

So I should not be too worried about the bootloader then?  I don't want the chip to stop working down the road due to this stupid mistake.

so you hit cancel when flash and then set back the jumper from bootloader mode???

First time I flashed I hit "no".  It didn't work.

Second time I reflashed and hit "Cancel".  It didn't work.

So then I connected the device to my computer, connected the jumper, disconnected the jumper, and tried it again (by connecting to the ps3).

It worked first try.  I'm not sure why but it works now and I'm happy!

If I wanted to update all I would have to do is put the jumper back on and reflash correct?

VonSwoopington, this is what iLLNESS said over at psx-scene.

QUOTE
if you flash a hex to your board and the bootloader does not have its config bits locked, you will brick the board if your settings do not match.

it is also possible for my releases to brick your board but i leave that up to you to figure out beforehand. users using the picdem bootloader flashing over usb will never brick their boards with my hexes as long as they hit cancel when loading the hex.

just an FYI.

lew000, the manufacturers instructions are pretty clear.

TIAO WIKI

Go down to "Prepare TIAO 360 USB SPI Interface" and instead of the "PICFLASH_v3b_plus2" hex, you use the psgroopic hex and you hit cancel at the prompt since these hex files aren't tailor made ONLY for our boards. Stop when the guide mentions "NANDPro2d" and it's ready to go. For updating, put it back in bootloader mode and flash it like the first time. The program will erase and reflash the board.

running a spi with 1st hack
works great but would love to update it no cd etc

but everything on ps3 currently seems chaotic trying to fallow a post gets to be a pain

is there a simple precompiled way to flash the pic i have read many forums and posts and have 20 dif compiles from all over the net
seems it would be a little less chaotic usually scenes are a little more structured

I imagine its caused by way to many devices used to run the hack

That depends. You can just read the main news pages on psx-scene, ps3hax, ps3news, etc to know when a new payload is out. But for the actual precompiled hex, I have been following this thread

PSGroove Finally poted to a new chipset: PIC18F2550

Since that's where iLLNESS has been posting them, just go to the last page and work backwards. But he recently started a thread that would probably be much better

iLLNESS's PSGrooPIC Hexes and Information Thread

It's full of extremely useful information and all the hexes you could need that are compatible with the 360 USB SPI board. The latest hexes are 1.7a and 1.6c, both of which are posted there.

hmmmmmmmmm?
ive always flashed the pic psgroove to my nandflasher with a pic18f2550 chip...
always worked like a charm with no difficulties,or is it for another board in combination with the pic?

I ordered the DIYGadget usb device and I followed the steps outlined in the first post.  It did not mention to hit `cancel' when you see the flash prompt.  I chose `yes' and it is not working (on 3.41).  I read in later posts that I should have picked `cancel'.

Is there way to flash the original tiao bootloader with config file and get this working?

Thanks

hey dude see if you can flash again if you can just choose cancel.
if you click on the illness link from the two posts ahead. I believe its the hermes v4b 3.41 usb hid hex that you want to flash. Theres like two of those I believe or maybe three, just try flashing one then plugging it in and see if it works if it don't then flash the next.

But, you might not have overwrote your bootloader, cause I've hit no before and it never did. chances are what you flashed had a compatible boot loader. So if your not getting an error and it says flash complete or doesnt say anything you should be good. Just try another hex dude!
you should be able to flash the original using a programmer which you would either have to make if possible or buy.... but if your gonna do that I would contact diy and see if you send them yours back if they can send ya another, and just be honest about your screw up I'm sure they'll work with ya biggrin.gif Seriously be honest because he'll know your not hes on this thread from time to time...

What is the difference between

PICDEM USB Bootloader

and

USBHID Bootloader

People who are using the Xbox 360 USB SPI sold by DIY.....they are USBHID Bootloader users, correct?

Where does PICDEM come into the fray?

I have this one, and the USBHID didn't work for me but the PICDEM did:

Came to the same conclusion after the USBHID didn't work for me either. PICDEM it is.

I am still hanging on a black screen at start up and hope somebody can tell me where I have gone wrong. I just updated to firmware 3.15.

I have a PIC18F2455 I set it to bootloader mode and flashed it with PICFLASH.hex

Then I loaded the LEDB145C0-1-iLLNESS-PL3-276-default_pl-753eade44e2eb9fcf2a5-PICDEM.hex found here. http://psx-scene.com...6946-post2.html There were a lot of hex files in the rar so I picked the first one that said default.

When I loaded it I got the error message and hit cancel. Then programed the device.

Then I unpluged it swiched it out of bootloader mode and plugged it in the Playstation. Powered it up and hit eject immediatly. Nothing but black screne.

Any thoughts?
