i got a 60gb with a very early firmware (1.8 i think). hd loader couldn't recognize my hard drive. when i upgraded to 4.xx hd loader said it wasn't compatible with my system.

if anyone has a lower firmware ps3 would this work:
1.dl ps2 hard drive support from ps store
2.install ffxi and let it format the ps3 hd
3. run hdloader

if the ps2 support cannot be dled (due to psn firmware check) i'm guessing it can be dled by switching hard drives with another ps3.


i understand the legal gray area this question might pose. but i'm looking for an answer because i want to play import games. specifically ikusagami.
