Has It Been Known?
« on: March 05, 2008, 11:02:00 PM »

Just another crazy hacking thought, but has it been known that when you turn on your PS3 that the first media slot to light up is the Media Stick Pro slot? I mean it's pretty obvious so somebody must have caught on to this right? Kind of like it can almost boot off of it before the HD maybe? With the right software or boot loader or something. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) OK you can bash me now if you'd like, maybe I deserve it, unless of course this is new news to everyone and not a stupid idea of course. And yes I tried to search for this type of topic before posting.

After seeing the messages below, while buying a new PS3 and removing the HD and installed a larger one, before even starting it up for the first time, I'm wondering more and more about a possible MS Duo boot hack. Here is the screen shots-

So the light comes on during boot..

That does not mean the system will boot a file off the MS-Duo.

That light is probally just the result of a system test to ensure the whole system is working before it fully boots in to the front end.

What you are thinking about its a dead end, you cant change the boot order of a console like you can a PC.

well, saying you cant change the boot order seems a bit closed-minded... the psp can change boot order with the use of an ff eep battery. i bet before that made its way to the public eye, everyone said "you cant boot off the ms before the onboard flash"

i would have to assume that the ps3 has a service mode as well, just that it is likely a well protected secret at this point.

I dont know anything about the PSP but until the PS3 is cracked I dont see this as a way to attack the system at this time.

I am not trying to shoot you down, but you might be a few steps ahead of where you need to be and also you need to concider that the dont need the MD-Duo slot at fab because they have a network connection and the bluray drive that could be used to do the stuff they need to in the plant.
