Well looks like people are finally starting to pull out their big guns and getting ready to crack PS3 .

With yesterdays new TiFF exploit released, Team ICE has agreed to release their ELF 2 SELF tool the Resistance Fall of Man and Motorstorm 1.1 exploit many of you guys heard about a while back here.

The tool allows us to run ELF files via RFOM/MS exploit on the PS3 which can potentially lead to the first "Hello World" on the PS3 if our cards are played right.

The download below contains the converter, examples and tutorial on how to get started on converting your ELF files and exerimenting on your PS3. Post your results in the Hacks/Exploits section and let us know what you discover.

considering it should be easy to put stuff like games on the HDD, i would think it would be a more wanted thing, not to mention the ps3 is picking up steam rather quick, i dont think it has much to do with lack of interest, as its just more difficult

It seems the most common/easiest hack is the firmware so you can download/burn/play backups

Unfortunatly with the PS3, I don't think a lot of people are interested in that type of hack for 1) Most of us dont have the banwidth to download 20GB games 2) Most of us don't have Blu-Ray burners 3) It's a  expensive peice of (sexy) equipment, one messup and your out $500...

So I think the motivation isn't there like it is with the 360/Wii...Although I think the PS3 would be the absolute best system to have Homebrew (HDD on all systems, Blu-Ray inside, different types of Memory Sticks, Multiple USB Ports, Wifi, etc)

Anyway, Just saying im sure the only way most of us will get impressed/care is if they can make the PS3 run homebrew...The day that comes they'll win the console war within 2 years biggrin.gif

nice read though, hope something comes out of this

Thanks for sharing, Team ICE!

Becareful with the Avatar stuff...
If you connect to PSN and a file change gets detected you will get banned.
Even it it's just a small picture file (in order to prevent offending pictures from appearing on PSN).

i dont know? But it is very potential. There is also a rumor of a "Hello World" vid on youtube from a psp hacker who claim to manage hello world on the PS3 via overflow.tiff

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B59wRhYpOE...read.php?t=2857

But even if it is a fake i think this elf 2 self tool is the best way to get into the system. It is like modded elfs for the PS2 but with the different that we have to use a MOD-Chip to boot this elfs.Only now there are ways (or only one) to boot modded elfs on the PS2 without a MOD-Chip.

So the situation now to have a converter to convert the modded ELF to get a signed SELF what will boot via exploit is (for me) more potentialy than the 360 time attack or the Wii Zelda save game exploit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Very good point.

Homebrew would be the only reason I see to continue with this hack-attack of the PS3. What other purpose would it serve you? It wouldn't even help your everyday internet pirate for the reasons you discribed above.

Anyways, thats just my thoughts on the matter...

The whorest reason i ever heard. When the first PS2 backup possibility comes up no body haved a DVD Burner becouse they was priced with 200€ and more for a DL-Burner.The same like now for the BD. point1)

point2) The same as point1 only with bandwidth and the first ps2 isos on the web.(+many of us dont have INTERNET to this time)

point3) The same as point1 but for the costs of the console.(The first years the ps2 was priced with 400€ would be also 600$)

ps. If i was a hacker this would be for me no reason to not hack the console.I think the most of you dont understand the mentality about hacking.Sure with a cheaper console more hacker will give a try.But not every hacker who try to hack a console will be a great hacker. If you are a real Hacker than money will be no reason to not hack a console or what ever.

I totaly agree fw hacks suck, although I do apreciate the good work of c4e and others. If the 360 didn't have it's fw hack maybe the hypervisr would be cracked by now and we would have media centre and loads more. Game developers lose out and ms makes a bomb on selling more 360's to replace the one's that they banned. Not daft eh (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)  I still prefer my xbox 1 to the 360 although it's only used for movies these days, oh and me psp i'd love to see the ps3 with that kind of versatility. I think once the ps3 is hacked it will be the end of the 360, of course that's assuming the 360's not gonna be cracked anytime soon, and why would it be the pirates have their tool and theyre happy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) .

I like your first post on this subject three consoles you beat ps3scene to it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
