I apologize I went back and looked and it does look like it is version 1.9 not 1.6.

Did it just work out of the box for you, or was there something you had to do to get it up and running? When I use the hdlock it keeps telling me this drive can;t lock so any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Well barring anyone else having ideas I gave up and partitioned / locked my 60G maxtor instead. 20 G less then what I would have , but hopefully that will work in the box.

I still got locked:no in the menu option after being told it was locked and the new password was "xboxscene", so I'm crossing my fingers.

I will report on it after tonight when I can get home and test it in my box.

I got a couple questions that seem to fit into this. I was trying to lock my Seagate st3120814a and am getting the xbox needs service error as well(it's obviously that the drive locking did not work correctly). I am trying to put this on a v1.0 box. From the posts that I have read, there is not another step that I am missing right?
1- Backup xbox hdd contents
2- burn to disc using xboxhdm
3- locking the hdd
4- Then just put it in your console and start it up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Should I be upgrading the ata cable from the 40 pin to the 80 pin?
Also, if the original jumper setting on the xbox hdd is Cable Select, then why is the new one supposed to be set to master?

Below is the the screen that I got.

LiveInfo beta 3 running in Windows will report on the security status of the hdd so you'll know if it's really lockable

The 1.0 xbox won't be helpful to tell you the error no in the Service screen. If you are doing a hdd upgrade, ensure that the shadow C / virtual eeprom features in your softmod is turned off when you do the backup of C drive and eeprom. Frosty's xbox rescue disc will do that for you. Cable change isn't needed. Use the same jumper setting as your original hdd.

Thanks idotsfan, I appreciate it. And I read some of your guides and informational posts, and will finish doing work on it this weekend. Here's a big thanks from everyone who has used your information and not been able to tell you.

1.0 Xbox is softmodded via mechassault exploit.

Just want to make sure that I did everything right. So I got frosty's disc like you suggested.

So I start up my xbox with the 'eject' button so that it will boot into frosty's disc under normal OEM xbox standards. (I hope that's what you meant)

Copy/backup C/ and E/

Using Flashxp to move the entire directories over to my PC in a 'linux' folder that will be turned into an iso via xboxhdm 1.9.

Cold boot with Frosty's disc (power up with disc already in dvd drive)

If I do that, won't it boot to evox instead of the disc?

No. If there's a DVD in the drive when you power it up with the power button it boots from the DVD.
