500 Gb Notebook Hdd In Xbox
« on: September 20, 2008, 08:31:00 PM »

Has anyone tried the new Samsung 500gb notebook hdd in xbox yet?  Looking to take on a new project and will reduce the size of the xbox using a custom case mod; got most components together, just iffy on the hdd... I know it can be used in a ps3, yet if anyone has feedback, it will be appreciated smile.gif

There is a list of HDD's and models that will work with the xbox in the technical section

since its SATA youll need an adapter, and those tend to be flaky

also, moving to gen hardware, as its better suited to that section

Well, I checked out the hdd compatability list, but they don't say if the hdd is 2.5 or not(I'd be there all day trying to find what I need).  Looking for something that's 250gb or more.  If there are some, please let me know.  PATA seems to be the way to go, so I'll leave the SATA alone. biggrin.gif

A chipped xbox will work with a hdd that cannot be locked. But for Live access and for softmods, the xbox requires a hdd that can be locked - my sig has a link to a generic way to tell if the hdd is lockable but you'll need to read through the documentation of the hdd if you are using something not from the compatibility list.
