Can The Ps3 Play Data Disc?
« on: November 25, 2006, 11:11:00 PM »

I was wondering can the PS3 run data disc with avi files on them? I tried to put one in today and it didn't work..it read it as a data disc...but thats it....

I'm basically trying to play AVI files on my PS3..is there any way to do so?

It plays videos fine in linux with out GPU playing full screen at full speed no problem. I have not seen AVC or HD files play so don't know about them but just about everything els should play with no problem under linux.

Playing the videos through linux would be a poor choice. Linux on the PS3 does not currently have access to the GPU and the PS3 does have h.264 hardware decoding support. [correct me if im wrong]

Why???
We are not talking about High-End-3D-Gaming on Linux.
