Networked Media Client?

Is it known what types of networked media will be supported?

Will the PS3 be able to play networked mp3, ogg, avi, mpeg2, mpeg4,
divx, xvid, etc. streamed from or mounted on a linux box?

I'm basically looking for a HD replacement for XBMC on the Xbox.

yes it is known.
it is also known that it is discussed all the time, including on this board  (search button ^).
some say yahoo has a couple of useful tidbits too.
