Do you have eeprom backup? AFAIK there is a security-disable option
CODE
hdparm --security-disable WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWD /dev/hdb
but I'm not sure what exactly you have in mind. You do know of xplorer360 as windows alternative to xboxhdm right?
Hi Idotsfan, and everybody out there! I took your advice to unblock a WD disk with factory master password using hdparm under Windoz XP. It worked like a charm and I could access the drive. Thanks!
BUT after that, tired of unblocking it after power-ups, decided to execute the
--security-disable command. It worked, I could access disk again. I kept the PC running for some hours with processes on other disk, and when I came back the WD drive had disappeared from Windoz Tree, so I reseted the machine. (That "disappear" issue was a little bit common for that WD drive)
The disk appeared locked again. And since then, none of the security commands worked again with the same master password!

HDPARM.exe returns:
"Problem issuing security command: Input/output error", and below:
"Error: 5"
I just can´t figure out what´s going on here

After this I tried to unlock it with ATAPWD under DOS and it returns "command rejected by drive". This tools shows that security is enabled, disk is locked, security level is high, and USER password is set (that´s weird!). I guess under such conditions master password should unblock it anyway, but it don´t.
¿What else can I try? I need to read some other info from that hdd so I just won´t try "--security-erase".
I wonder if the "Input/output error" is the same error that hdparm returns when you enter a wrong password...
