Good job indeed. It's just too bad a large percentage of units sold were for people who wanted Blu-ray players instead of game systems. I saw the strangest thing the other day in my store. This guy, who must have been well into his 70's, was considering a PS3 because in his eyes its a much better value for a bluray player. That's true, but I wonder how many PS3s are out there as only blu-ray players. That's initially why I bought mine. Suddenly the elderly are buying gaming systems FOR THEMSELVES! What has this world come to? lol
(that goes for the wii as well)
What a clued up 70 year old. Most of them I visit have never been able to work the timer on their VCR let alone care about Hi Def in any format. Are you suggesting this is a high percentage of PS3 sales?
What is wrong with people buying the PS3 as BR player? Very shrewd move by Sony making the machine an all in one. Come to think of it what is so wrong with older citizens wanting a Wii to play. Does it make them certifiable or something?
It's amazing supporters of MS, battle cry when it was HD DVD
" The PS3 is not a standalone Blu ray Player"
Now that one is put to bed we are going to revert to
" Everyone bought it as a Blu Ray Player, It's not a games machine"
Fact is Sony took a chance and put themselves way behind in sales and way over the price of the 360 by delaying the console just for the inclusion of Blu Ray (Laser shortages etc). It would appear now that this was a good move, if worldwide sales indicators are near the mark. All this with no games.
I wonder what we are going to hear when the games arrive?
