Xbox V1.3 Attempted Install...
« on: June 16, 2003, 11:06:00 PM »

huh.gif

I am installing an X2.1L, with cromwell on it. This chip works when I pop it in my other xbox, so I know the bios on it is fine, and the chip works. (It is a pin-header install...)

However, when installed in this xbox it just frags [on/off(green), on/off(green), on/off(red/green)] When I disable the chip, it of course boots up fine off of the virgin TSOP.

The problem is that to this point, I have found no information for distinguishing between a V1.2 and a V1.3, other than trying to mod it and failing.

Question: Since pin3 was *disconnected* on the V1.3 (as it has been put), is their a simple continuity test that we can run to check the version? (Try and check for continuity between the two points that don't connect any longer....)

Is there a way to tell for sure yet? I want something concrete so I can sleep better tonight  wink.gif

Also, does anyone have any idea on how long it will be before we see X2.2? 1 month, 2 months?

Yeah... Hopefully sooner than later!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention....

Manufacture Date: 3-21-03, and it has a Sammy! Such a shame to see it only booting retail media  laugh.gif

Oh yeah, here is how I pinned it up (with wire colors for those of you who are more familiar with that way of thinking...) (Same as a v1.1 or 1.0, right?)

D0 is in the new spot (for V1.2 or V1.3)... (I am not using the alternate D0 on the bottom.)

there are some good ways to check now.  just a question of checking the number of pins on the lpc and the software version from iside the msdash. also im sure you can do it from the serial number of the xbox but i dont know how that bit of it works. Chris

Can anyone elaborate? I have not found any details on this so far... It looks to me like the same # of pins are on the LPC, just need to know how I can test if they are connected or not... (Since pin3 is not "connected" on the v1.3)

Software version? What is the version for a 1.3? Serial number? I haven't ever heard that these things can be used to positively identify the components of an xbox, but maybe things have changed smile.gif

According to the info, the track from pin3 (LFRAME) has been completely removed. You should be able to spot this visually. Just look at the pin3 hole, and see if there are any tracks leading off of it. In my v1.0 and v1.2 Xboxes, the track for this pin is on the underside of the motherboard. Check to see if it's there or not.

Makes too much sense  laugh.gif  I was figuring it looked the same, but somewhere hidden the trace was not connected or something. Can anyone confirm this? (I don't have the v1.3 in my possesion any longer.)
