I've never played the game...
No one has, unless you're talking about older iterations of the franchise

why pay more for the ames when I can get them on the X360 for cheaper.
First of all, How exactly do you pay more for PS3 games? they're the same price as the 360 games. Not to mention the whole point of the article is that MGS is a PS3 exclusive that they hope will sell more consoles. No amount of money will buy the game on 360 if it's a PS3 exclusive.

If Sony was smart. They would allready have a $199 system and just take the loss. I would want to get more systems into everyones home rather then trying to not loose so much money on the console.
If you got the money, just take the loss. This would deffinitly pay off.
This would at least make an awesome X-mas special for everyone and it would be like a whole new launch again, except this time, Sony could produce a crap load and actually sell them all
First of all Sony is already a quarter of a Billion dollars in debt from the amount of money they've lost on PS3 sales from the price hit that they're currently taking... cutting it to $199 would move systems but it would double their debt and put them in a position where they would have to sell something along the lines of 30-50 games and accessories per console to make up the difference... that doesn't sound like a very smart move to me.
even the $399 price point is putting the hurt on them since the only reason they did it is due to threats of non-support from 3rd party developers worried that their games wouldn't sell on such an expensive console.
When you're losing money on the console you have to shoot for a sweet spot price point, you don't want the console to sell TOO well because if it does you're going to undercut yourself out of business, the loss leader model as it stands is risky business and is a big part of why companies like Atari and Sega no longer make consoles.
