I have a PS3 ver1.51 which I have delayed in upgrading in hopes that there would be some breakthrough in the early firmware, allowing homebrew and eventually an iso loader. But now it seems as there has been little to no progress made in this department and now I'm thinking that it is time to upgrade because of 2.00s new features. Is it time to upgrade, or are there any people out there who may be interested in this PS3 possibly for dev purposes? Any comments would be great, Thanks.

I would update firmware and enjoy what the console has to offer.

The PS3 and 360 for that matter will only be properly hacked with a chip.

Firmware hacks are kind of useless, everytime progress is made the firmware is updated and than you are fubar and have to start over. I went thru this with my PSPoo. Firmware downgraders and upgraders and all kinds of nonsence. There was talk of a chip but i just sold the thing cause it just didn't have any games i liked.

Upgrade, most news you read about ISO loaders are totally bullshit, don't believe everything you read..

you will be siting on the bench for a long time, 3 years on the 360 we don't have an "easy" way yet so I don't see the PS3 being any different..

agreed i wouldent be depending on early hacks to mutch. look at the 360. untill thers a chip for both systems i would just enjoy what you have. as for years on a chip there getting close on a 360 with the timing attack and a kernel loader that doesent blow efuses. i would imagion a simler attack would work on a ps3. but in all honasty theres no good reasion to hack a ps3 sence it has meda center abiltys as well as linux mode. the only hack on a ps3 that would be good in my eyes will be in linux drivers and getting the rsx to work in that mode.
