No USB??
I don't believe a word. You need them to charge controllers and if they were supplying only wired controllers they still need USB to plug into.
£299
You may as well pay the £379 the stores are discounting the full package out at. Only £80 more.

There are other things they can take out of the PS3 to lower its price like the card readers and internal wi-fi.

A PS3 without Blu-Ray playback and no HDMI? I'd laugh my ass off if they released something like that. Anyway, it's not going to happen, but the idea was kind of entertaining, for a few seconds laugh.gif

I was inagreement with that list until the last two items

I'd say
-20GB HDD
-2 USB
-No Wifi
-No Card slots
-No Backward compatibility

if they could sell that at $300 USD/ £250 they would start moving units right quick... I know I'd buy one at that price/feature list

change that to BC rendered in HD resolutions and id go buy one right now.

infact i won't lie, i would stump up the £400 if the 60gb version had BC rendered in HD.

i just wanna play some final fantasy VIII sad.gif

I would buy it at the current price point if they rendered (not scaled) PS2 games in HD...

that would be a whole lot of value-added in my opinion. As far as I'm concerned though, without dramatically improving the graphics through the BC system it's a worthless feature to me.

my main issue is with ps1 games, i.e final fantasy viii, those smaller resolution really do not scale well onto a HD LCD, infact they downright look like garbage on my set, and it's not like i have a cheapo set.

exactly...

if you can manage to track down a copy of Bleem! try playing some of those PS1 games on your PC at HD resolutions... it's f-ing heavenly...

any system that would allow me to do that with PS1 and PS2 games and run well would be well worth the money IMO.

now that I think of it... It might be worth re-purposing one of my scrap PCs as a dedicated Bleem Box...  ph34r.gif

lol Bleem... Now that's bringing back memories!!
I switched between Bleem and ePSXe - I think I still have 'em somewhere too wink.gif. That and my original PS1 which gets unboxed when I start to feel a little nostalgic.....

From what I remember (and I could be wrong - it was a while ago), ePSXe did a better job at rendering and using the 3D hardware in your PC. It was harder to configure, what with the plugins needed etc. But the end result was a cleaner image and better framerate - I found some screenshots here:

lol, I think I was running a P90 with 384MB RAM and Orchid Righteous 3D graphics card back in 2000 smile.gif

yes and looked heavenly, i loves playing FF on it.

i have been using epsxe for years now BUT since getting the LCD i can no longer output to tv because my current pc cant output my tvs resolution, and i refuse to play on a 19" 4:3 monitor.

With any luck my new rig will be able to handle my tv and i can go back to epsxe and forget all about ps3 laugh.gif
