I think you have to remember that the main purchases for game consoles are for younger people probably around the age group 5 - 15
children don't tend to care about quality they care about fun and lets face it the wii has an arseload of fun, also the price comparison
360 - £249
PS3 - £400 i think? around that mark anyway
Wii - £179 - plus you get a few games in the box
when my daughter who i will admit is only 5 asked for a games console i looked at what was offered for that age range and the wii won hands down
you have to remember we live in a world where britney spears has sold something like 30 million odd albums in her career, the wiggles probably around about the same mark
the child market today is massive
what i think would be more interesting to see is if nintendo can keep up this rising success by backing up their console with games that will continue to appeal to the preteen and early teen market, maybe even starting up a new franchise that could stand up to some of their tired franchises former years of glory
If the gamecube was anything to go by nintendo can still speak a good game but delivery is far from certain, but i do hold out some hope for the company that brought me the snes without which i would have probably not grown a gut that keeps my heating bills down in winter
God Bless you nintendo i've never had a need for a good winter coat
