Nintendo was only temporarily worth more, but that doesn't change the fact that Sony's gaming division is in trouble. However, considering what Thraxen said, if this cut is able to drive software sales then they most certainly can afford it. The E3 conference showed that things could be looking up for PS3, but pulling ahead at this point still seems quite unlikely. It still remains that if you're looking at the PS3 as a pure gaming device it's probably not worth the money right now. But if you're like me and use it for all of its other functions as well then the value seems justified.
I am not denying the PS3 is a jack of all trades and as of now, seen as a master of none. If that is what you are looking for, then buy it. You can buy a standalone Next-Gen DVD player that is better (hybrid Bluray/HD-DVD), or a dedicated gaming device that is better (PC or arguably 360), or a Linux machine that is better (PC). But, for the price of an all-in-one unit, the PS3 a great deal if you happen to be looking for 1 machine that does all 3.
My point was simply Nintendo has the right to criticize Sony. They are leading the pack, and have a view like no other.
If Sony overtakes Nintendo, they can sit back and say "Nintendo did this, this and this wrong." People will listen.
