well this is a disappointment...
I never understood the desire to use wireless... sure it's easier to hook up but it's considerably slower and requires you to have access to more expensive equipment. Considering I've already run Ethernet to my home theater setup what is the benifit for me to use Wireless? Anyone who played online last generation already has the wires run.
Much like I feel Microsoft should have never released the CORE version... I feel the same way that Sony should have never released the Premium version. $100 for 40GB a wireless network interface I'll never use and some crappy card ports. The extra $100 certainly doesn't carry with it the same value that the extra $100 in the Xbox 360 does. Particularly because the PS3 lets you use generic components to upgrade rather then official hard drives and the like.
The 20GB model might not be selling well, but I think if it was the ONLY PS3 model the PS3 would be selling a lot better then it is. People saw the two tiered pricing and assumed it wasn't even worth getting the lower model because that's how it was with the 360. It's not like Sony has really advertised the differences between the two. If people were actually informed they might understand that they can get into a PS3 for only $500 and not miss out on anything really.... $100 does a lot in swaying someone's purchase decisions.
If and when I get a PS3 it will be the 20GB model... for my money that has the greater value.
