Are you using a modchip? If so, what BIOS? If not, what softmod?

You can initially install the drive with Slayers (if you have a modchip), but you'll need to go back afterwards and reformat F:/G: with XBPartitioner.

Right, set it up first. Go into Xbpartitioner and equalize the size between the F and G drives. Hopefully it was a typo in your post. Never mess with any other drive except F and G. Format with 32k clusters if possible. They say corruption only happens over 250gigs, but I suffered it on two different Xboxes with 250gig drives.

Normally drives are formatted with 16kb clusters, but it seems only 256gb per partition is supported in this way. 32kb clusters doubles that to 512gb.

XBPartitioner is the only bit of software that lets you format with 32kb clusters. It gives you the option just before you format (and it'll do it by default if you want to do a partition larger then 256gb).

You can put data onto a partition if it hasn't been formatted "correctly", but once you actually reach the 256gb mark your data starts to be "deleted" in bulk.

There is a menu in Xbpartitioner, I can't remember the button to get to it. Pressing the white button changes the upper right corner box. It will change to format with 32k clusters. When you have it there, press start. Do the same for the G drive.

Yes. If you load XBPartitioner, you'll get a message telling you if you DON'T have it.

I prefer EvoX M8+ BIOS. Since you have a 1.6 you would need EvoX M8+ V16. A lot of people prefer Xecuter BIOS' so it's really user preference on which BIOS to use.

If I use Auto-Installer Deluxe v4.10 as the installation disc, will it uprgrade my bios automatically?

Unlikely, but it may provide you with that option.

Whatever BIOS you use make sure it supports LBA48.

My favourite (the X2 5035) does.

The EvoX M8 doesn't by default, but it can have the support added via patching. I gather pre-patched versions are available from X-Bins (though you can use EBTool to do it yourself).

If your current BIOS supports LBA48, it may not be worth the trouble to re-flash.

alright i flashed my bios again... now with x2_5035_v16plus_512k. haven't seen any problem.

i'll write here after i install my new hdd.
