yes so this is why they are pushing backwards compatibility now, for something for people to do on there PS3's.

I think M$ should employ these software devs how come Sony can emulate 1000 titles when M$ can only do like 300+. Doesn't smell right to me.

Cause nVidia designed and owns the GPU and Intel designed and owns the CPU to the origianl Xbox. It's hard to emulate what you didn't design, and don't own the rights to.

Funny how they always say its the software that sells systems when their ps2 was underpowered by the xbox. Now they have all this power and nothing to play on it and all of a sudden its all about the power.

And whos fault is that? Could Sony turn the "Emotion Engine" into a "Hardware Scaler"?

Theory:
Sony never changed the hardware design and left in the "Emotion Engine" chip. Through software updates, everyone now uses software emulation, and the "Emotion Engine" chip is now used for "Hardware Scaling".

Neither new buyers nor early adopters could be pissed. They all have essentially, the same machine, with the same capabilities.

A huge BC library, and true hardware dedicated scaling.

To be sure, don't update your PS3 with the update that coincides with the European launch.

I was pretty vocal about Sony removing hardware BC, I thought it was a mistake when I read Sony said they would have "limited" PS2 support. A lot of people did including Sony fans. Does that mean they were all fanboys too? Just because I think the PS3 currently blows and beleive Sony has made some bad choices and continues to make bad choices does that make me a fanboy? Probably

Everything that is coming out of their PR department seems to try and reassure PS3 owners and prospective buyers that they had a successful launch, that PS3 are flying off shelves, that Blu-Ray has already won the HD format war, that 80% of PS3 owners are going to buy Blu-Ray movies, that the PS3 is a super computer and that a price cut is coming but not anytime soon because we are cost reducing so we can pass the savings to our customers after we pull functionality out and kill off our cheap SKU but it's actually the retailers fault because they don't order them but their shevles are empty so no need for a price cut till 2008.

Why would I want to buy one now? And you consider this good news, wow I'm lost for words. It sure as hell doesn't make me want to buy one.

It's that sort of nonsense crap that gets old.  Deftech has accused me of being a fanboy/zombie, yet in nearly every single news item about Sony he has to pop in and make some lame comment... even if it's just something stupid like a *sigh* or *yawn*.   And I'm the fanboy?  Spare me.  Look where we are.  I'm a long standing member of this forum... an XBox forum.  Here are my systems [Link].  And I'm the fanboy?  Even if Deftech isn't a fanboy (which is doubtful), at very least he seems incapable of posting without being an ass to anyone who has a viewpoint that differs from his own.  God forbid anyone post something positive about the PS3.

Haha... I actually agree.  My 360 gets more use, by far, than my other systems.   My current usage would fall out like this:  360 > PS3 > XBox 1 > Wii.

You might have registered long ago but you sure havent been around these gaming areas long. If you would have been, you'd know the type of person I am. Ive publicly stated that Ive despised Sony as a company since the early 90s. Ive also stated that I am a MS whore and have no shame in doing so.

do you realize how many games there are for the PS2? There are nearly 1000 titles that have come out in America alone, and that number easily doubles when you consider how many japanese games there are that have never come out in America.

I thought there was like 3000 plus PS2 games, and they are emulating 1000 of them. And there are like 900 xbox games and they are up to like 400 emulated games. So wouldn't they be doing a similar job at this point.

I would love to have all 1000 of those games work to but i will believe that when i see it. It would be easy to exagerate who the hell hs over 1000 ps2 games to test. Also they don't mention any updates to add more games.

I could care less since i have a launch ps3 and don't play ps2 games on it (i have a ps2 with dms 4 and toxic os on it) so it dosn't really matter to me.

What does matter to me is sony saying we are superior with hardware backward compatability(that didn't work until recently) all other consoles cower before us. Oh wait nevermind that previous statement emulation is the way to go. That shit is jut ignornt.
