let me tell you guys what is going to happen with the Wii. it is going to sell like mad throughout the next year. then about middle of 2008, there will be mounds of them at gamestop that no one will buy. why? because there is nothing to do on the machine. all of the virtual console games are overpriced, the web browser is fun for a minute, wii sports isn't too much fun by yourself and, online play/features are basically non-existent. now, if nintendo busts out a new mario game that is better than mario64, a new mario kart and let's say a massive dashboard feature update then, my prediction will be false. in the end, 1st party titles will decide whether the wii excels or fails; also, an update of the dashboard for better use of online.

I want the Wii to be a step back in regards to dimensions. Bring back the 2d games.

Ever since sony entered the market it has been the 3d party games that has decided who wins if the wii won't get exclusive good games (hopefully plentiful and not a throw back to the seal of quality days) then it will fall inte the same nothingness the n64 and GC did. But this doesn't really matter since the wii is pretty cheap and everyone should have one just for social gatherings.

I'd hardly call the n64 and GC "nothingness".  Those were some quality consoles with some awesome games that sadly didn't have that much 3rd party support.  I'd take an n64 over a PS1 any day though.

I highly respect Gabe Newell and he has made some amazing decisions that have changed the way gaming is looked at today. There are a couple of things I would like to point out though.

First of all, VALVe is a company aimed at PC gaming. All of the console games they have come out with are almost direct ports from their PC versions so how can they have a 100% valid opinion any ways in a market they aren't even fully in?

Secondly, Gabe Newell might have said those things but keep in mind, he's only one person with an opinion. I think he should be careful in what he says though. A statement like that can really hurt Sony. He might be just one person with an opinion but his opinion will reach many many many more ears then yours or mine would.

Thirdly, PC Gaming is not dieing in any way. Some things are just better left to a comp and also with the advancement in computer GFXs with the 8800 series coming out and also the step that AMD took with their dual socket F mobos.

I just hope you all keep in mind when a huge rep of a company or any "famous" person says anything, it's only one person and their opinion should have any more of an impact on you then if any one else said it with equal knowledge of the subject.

Epsilon72 I'll give you this, the n64 might have had better first party games (ninty always do). But hell there where 10-15 times as many awesome games for the ps1 vs the n64. Ps1 was the glory days of gaming, it had everything....almost.. the n64 always won out when there were more then me that wanted to play (perfect dark, golden eye)

Co-sign  biggrin.gif

ps1>n64

Though I still play alot of banjo, mario kart and starfox. I just had alot more good games for the psx. GT1, Crash 3, Crash team racing (best kart racing game ever!), tekken 3 (best tekken ever!), Symphony of the night (Best.game.EVER!...lol), MK trilogy (funniest MK ever! n64 version was horrible)
