Wait a year.  BluRay and HD-DVD kinda flopped this Xmas, but they'll be in full force this coming year.  The Ps3 is the cheaper, better(HDMI) HD player.  Rechargable controller, wifi out of the box, the Ps3 is the better deal.  pop.gif

You've gotta clue me in as to how you reckon having a non-removable battery is better than the ability to choose either a battery pack or AAs?

The HD-DVD movies are still getting better reviews than BluRay - can you let me know when exactly this will change?

Sony cannot lose, the playstation name is too big and too well known...the public will buy any old shite that say "playstation".

Give it a year and it will take the lead again.

I have a 360 and got a PS3 about a week ago , motorstorm on it is nothing short of amazing. The 360 is a nice machine with a great online system but it will never have a game that runs as good as motorstorm, for start it suffers from terrible tearing in nearly every game!.

Anyways im not here to start an arguemant im just sick of people saying the PS3 is the next dreamcast......give it a year and then come back and tell everyone that.

The people who keep saying this have no clue about gaming.

you're right that the Playstation name is well known but you have to consider how it's well known

The temperament of American consumers is quite fickle... Take Michael Jackson for instance (no seriously) He went from a consistently chart-topping musician that the public proclaimed to be the king of pop and almost overnight became a complete laughing stock, all while still retaining his name recognition. His albums sell like crap now, all because the public perception of him changed, but he's still as much of a household name as he ever was.

From my own observations, last generation it was "cool" to own a PS2 and to be a fan of Sony. It's what most everyone had, it's where all the good games were, even non gamers would pick it up because it was just something everyone had. Like some kind of fashion trend you were somehow uncool if you didn't own one or at least liked them.

Now the "cool" thing is to hate on Sony. Seriously the popular thing in video games right now is to make fun of Sony and rub it in their face... their name is just as popular as it ever was but the difference is now it's popular for a different reason, and I think it's a larger Sony problem (root kit, exploding batteries, etc.) not just the Playstation brand.

--------

This generation is certainly interesting... Sony seems to have lost quite a bit of clout in both the American and Japanese Markets and honestly I see the Wii being the run away success this go around, with MS on their heals in nearly every market but Japan... My prediction is that Nintendo and Sony will essentially swap places in terms of market share, and MS will gain a little bit overall but not enough to take #1 in any market before the next generation.

Wow. A rechargable controller + battery + wireless adapter is $125. Add that to a $400 xbox360, and it is still less than a premium PS3.

Also, the HD-DVD attachment came out almost a year after the xbox 360 attachment. Most people who got a 360 near launch had come back into the green financially after spending the $400 dollars for the 360. While the PS3 on the other hand makes you buy it all at one with no other option except the $500 version which STILL has the Blu-ray player.

If I had no HDTV, and no wireless router. Then the PS3 would be a HUGE waste of money, unlike the Xbox 360 and the Wii.

god i love these fights

its simple really, just look at sales or go to any electronics shop, i see stacks of ps3s, 360s are readily available (been out for a year), and wiis are no where to be found. you can love your ps3 all you want but to say its the best you are disagreeing with the general public, so go on and on and on about it to justify your purchase.
