Ps3 Game Saves?

The PS3 isn't out in the UK yet, nor am I likely to get one on first release so could someone answer a few questions for me?

PS3 game saves, are they stored on the hard drive?
Are they accessable when using Linux as the OtherOS?
Any way to transfer them to the PC yet? If so I'd appreciate a few being sent my way to look at smile.gif
