So today I got a call from the local Rogers Video where I pre-ordered 3 systems and they informed me that Sony will not be filling the orders for any companies like Rogers Video and Blockbuster. Apparently they think that people shopping there don't matter. I suggest that if you were planning on getting a system from one of these places, You give them a call and ask.
Can anyone else confirm this kind of ass raping?
There were no preorders per say for the exact reason of what you just described. Most retailers were unsure of how many units, if any, they would be getting. The only thing a "preorder" got you was a spot in line come launch day.
I am sorry to hear there won't be any units going to the store you had your preorder with. It's not so much that people shopping there don't matter to Sony, but larger retailers have greater pull with them. Walmart is causing prices on Plasma displays to drop like crazy and have even approached the RIAA to lower CD prices so they can sell at $10. Large retail corporations have a lot of power as they controls the distribution to the end consumer.
