some of my favorite features on the Xbox 360 that the PS3 would have to include before I would consider it even on par never mind "leaving it in the dust"
-Ability to set my controller preferences for popular genres in the dash and attached to my profile so I don't have to set them for every game
-A profile that that shows whether people thinking I'm a good gamer or a bad gamer (reputation), shows what games I've played and how well I did (achievements/gamerscore/trueskill ranking).
-The ability to look at other gamers profiles with a single button while I'm in an online lobby or just waiting for a game to load
-The ability to carry on a conversation with a friend while playing a completely different game then they are
-The ability to stream my own music from another PC on the LAN, an iPod or other device and use it in place of the in-game music
-The ability to see a list of the last 100 people I've played against with the touch of a button
-The ability to quickly browse my friends list to see who's online and which ones have played a game I'm in the middle of playing so I can message them asking for advice if I'm stuck.
-The ability to make my gaming profile an online profile and community where I can quickly find others who have excelled in the games I'm having trouble with, and others can find me for the same reason, allowing me to make new friends and find new gaming companions.
-The ability to download game updates, demos, trailers, etc while I'm playing a game
Those are all features of the Xbox 360 dashboard/guide that make me love it as a console, you can even read
my review of it when it first came out, I'm not just pulling this out of my ass for the sake of an argument, I cited most of these points as beneficial features when it first came out.
All of these features add to the gameplay, they're all related to the dashboard and guide.
Can the PS3 do these things? I don't know, they certainly haven't talked about them if it can, and these are things I definitely care about a whole lot more then a slideshow. To be perfectly honest I can't think of the last time I watched a slideshow, nor presented one to friends a relatives. My important pictures are hanging on the wall, the less important pictures are available online. You don't need $600 worth of equipment to do an imitation table drop slideshow, you could probably even accomplish it with PS2 hardware.
