one problem with those GT HD pics are they have been shrunk down a bit.  If you click on them you get the full resolution and they look better, i.e. less jaggies.  I do like the HD video of the 99 Subaru WRC car that can be seen over at gametrailers.com

Comparing these two games is silly though as neither is a finished product nor do we know what is in game and what is after race replay etc.

Pheidias was trying to say that a better comparison of the two systems would be to look at similar titles that are exclusive to each system.  While GT HD might have been a poor choice the idea isn't.  Instead of focusing on the wrong, answer the question:
"Anyone have any other obvious, same game different plattform, games that would be good to compare"

Jesus, I don't think he was trying to claim GT HD was better or the PS3 was better.  Hell, if anything the statement that Forza 2 comes out earlier than GT HD would go towards it as it would have less dev time than GT HD.

Yes, he did compare the two, but I'm hoping he meant the Forza franchise on the 360 and the GT franchise on PS3 and only specified Forza 2 and GT HD as they will be the earliest examples on the consoles and will be released at similar times.

In all seriousness:
I was showing my friend GOW last weekend and trying to convince him to buy it.  He has a 360.  While watching the trailers he made a couple funny comments:
1.  Do they not have helmets for soldiers in the future?
2.  Why are they wearing moon boots and look like their on roids?
3.  Reminds me of characters from UT, i.e. the way they look and stuff they shout out.

No really serious comments and he admited it looked pretty, but I hadn't really thought of any of those.  It does make me wonder if it will a FPS that I can get behind.  I enjoyed the UT series alright, but much preferred FPS titles like MOH/COD/BF/GRAW.

Which leads me to my question.  Think they'll have a demo out on XBL so I can try it out at his place?  Depending on how I like it I might be tempted to buy it or go halfs with him.

i was not looking forward to coming back to read what i posted this morning - was 'slightly' wrecked to say the least, and had been up all night - so im surprised it made any sense at all, let alone encompassed even a hint of humour  

oh well - i was a little harsh on pheidias - i apologise for my wrecked ranting - but the comparison is still shit (and it may remain in my sig )

the thing is, if the GT and forza franchises are to be compared i would think the next  in the GT series (not HD) should be with forza 3, not 2 (they will be out roughly the same time i would imagine). To be honest iv been disappointed with next gen racing games - PGR is hardly gorgeous, and forza 2 leaves a little to be desired. perhaps im setting my sights too high; but the next gen jump within the fps genre seems much larger than the one in racing. And im sorry, but id be pissed if GT was my favourite racing franchise - GTHD seems like a little bit of a joke......

i want RFOM. But i don't have $600, oh and sony won't have a ps3 for me anyway. oh and i don't like the dual analogs......... why oh why didn't they change that? or at least space them out a bit.
