I must say that the PS3 is impresive. its what a HD game console should be.  not no i need to but  a different device to play my HD movies. or let me pay more money to play online so i could keep making Bill Fags even richer .

Third one sucked. First one strecthed the truth... BR is not going to make games look better... and BR is not a whole freaking field of sunflowers compared to a garden which they call HD DVD. The second one is the best one, but it's still stretching the truth. The cell is not ever going to process that much information.

But if I happened to be just a normal guy at home watching football, I'd sure be impressed.

Sony and their BS... Bad news for MS, sadly.

impressive adverts, laying it on far too thick though.

Most users ill be so confused by what that guy is talking about they will be forced to be impressed.

i found it funny how they HAD to bash HD-DVD, probably just to justify blu-ray to themselves.

and he amount of BS was hilarious.

nice ads though. i really love they whol blood cells in the shape of the buttons thing, thats really cool.

i agree these are too long to be commercials.

Also is it just me or does the first ad made a big deal about the space of blue-ray for the first half of the vid and then say it doesnt matter?:  "but it isnt how much you can store, it's how much you can access"  so we have all this space to store things but its not about that??

also they go out of their way to bash not only the 360 (5GB??) but also HD-DVD, further showing why sony really put a BRD in the ps3.  i smell fear in these ads

IMHO, they all sucked and served up the BS big time.  basically typical sony.

 (5GB??)

the simple truth is... most BR games will be 25Gb disks, most 360 games will be 5Gb / 10Gb max... I don't think there is one yet thats one more than one DVD??

no there isnt a game with more then one DVD.  if im not mistaken there isnt a game out now that is much larger then 5GB actually.  i would hope that only games like RE and RPGs would require more then one disk.

I don't think anyone here has ever denied that Sony's marketing machine isn't the best in the business...

It's a good thing they know where to concentrate their efforts.

I wouldn't say it is the worst in the business though. They have made a lot of money for a lot of years.

I don't think it is fair to compare a Dual Layer B-R disk to a Single Layer DVD. If you are gonna go head to head at least do it on the same level. A B-R disc is not 10X capacity of a DVD.

Single Blu-Ray - 25GB
Dual Blu-Ray - 50GB

Single HdDVD - 15GB
Dual HdDVD - 30GB
Triple HdDVD - 45GB

Single DVD - 4.7
Dual DVD - 8.5

That is about 6x the capacity of a DVD and not much more capacity than an HdDVD if they wanted to tell the truth.  rolleyes.gif

Edit: http://www.manifest-.....#Hybrid Discs
Sony has also talked about a quad layer Blu-Ray though.

Wow, i must say, these commercials are prime examples or the Sony hype machine.

They fail to mention that even though it has 8 cores, the PS3 and the xbox 360 have VERY close maximum performance. And they forget to say that even though the Blu-ray can hold 10x the information of a single layer disc on a single dual layer disc, it takes just that much longer to load it. And that 1080p is still very hard to achieve on a PS3 in-game. AND that a very well made game in 720p will still look better than a game on 1080p.

I could go on

These commercials didn't help my respect for Sony at all.

Yeah they could have used DL DVD, but at least they used DL HD DVD which was a very good thing.  As far as Triple layer HD DVD let's not go there.  I've read about 100-200GB Blu-Ray disc, but they aren't produced and as far as I am aware neither are triple layer HD DVDs.  Dual layer to dual layer for next gen disc was fine and within the bounds of the "truth".
You are right, that is why I added my edit.

They didn't make mention of any comparison to the 360.  They said it was 40 times more powerful than the PS2 processor.  What are you talking about "load it"?  The load times have been about the same as 12X DVD-ROM drives.

Congratulations though you did figure out that an advertisement will try to accentuate certain aspects of a product and generate "Hype" for it.
yeah I didn't notice it when I made me reply, sorry.

Yes, i know they didn't make any comparison to the 360.

Load it? The time to load information off the disc. They said it is about the same as a PSP loading screen. PSP loading screens average in 100 seconds. Thats quite some time. I was saying that the reader for a 12x disc isn't good enough considering how much information can/will eventually be stored on BR.

And yes, i can call these commercials "hype" because IMO thats exactly what they are. They make everything on the PS3 seem special though they only give a first-glance opinion on it.
