Yes to get a game and a next gen console for gaming purpose only you can either pay.

wii 250$
x360 350-360$
ps3 560$

But some/many people want do it all consoles, mobilephones etc.
The price will be alot more for the ones that doesn't have it to begin with and will have some serious drawbacks

Dude, nobody is buying a wii to play wii sports. Please raise that $250 to $300. Oh yea dont forget the lan adapter cause not alot of ppl are gonna use wifi. Which will probably be about $20 bucks.

wth no matter how we calculate someone is gonna complain, don't know why you would NEED internet to play games though. Seems your love for the x360 is making you blind. Wii sports not counting as a game, need to buy a lan adapter to play not even Kira would have tried to pull that  tongue.gif

Sonys online woes will become apparent over time. It doesnt do any good to speculate what might happen and what might not happen. Noone can sit here and say they wont have a lot of kinks to work out.

Free to 50.00 a year, Free to 4.16 a month. I'd pay for Live if it was 10.00 a month, 2 less whopper meals in a 30 day time period, oh damn, theres goes my checking account!  rolleyes.gif

Free doesnt mean its better, it only means its cheaper  jester.gif

And by the way: Xbox 360 and its HD-DVD add-on support fully digital, HDMI-ready, 1080p signals. Games on 360 can already be displayed at 1080p via Component cables, and native 1080p games will be hitting stores soon (if not now). The only thing that's even an issue is displying movies in 1080p (HDMI is only required to show movies in 1080p, and then only due to movie industry rules- Component can handle the rest).

Xbox 360 games can be displayed at 1080p with component cable? Thats good news. I thought that it had to be in 1080i without a VGA or HDMI cable like the movies. Would be even better news if i didn't have a VGA cable already. Oh well.

P.S: Does anyone know where i can find an affordable PC monitor that has a 1920x1080 resolution. Affordable is around $1000 or less for me. Size doesn't matter.

What are you smoking calderra, or are you just blind. Check first page on xbox-scene a ms engineer is saying 1080p native games won't be happening on the x360. If the x360 could give a hdmi signal then it already would, I'm really having a hard time seeing this coming but hell they might, not sure how they are gonna do lossless 7.1 though but hell they might. There is no need to do first party hdmi cables since hdmi is a standard ms likes to make the costumer choose, thereby their nonstandard component vga cables and 50$ extra for you. Another one that makes kira look like a genius  tongue.gif

I just wonder how you people acctually can sit and say that x360 uses nextgen hardware connections, it's the same old dvdplayer it's still just a 100mbit ethernet it's the same crappy AV-out, the only new thing is usb and that isn't exactly new.

You people are sheeps. I guess when kira left you all had to step up and take his place.

or your love for nintendo is making you blind. I just found it interesting that the wii is the only system you felt that didnt need an extra $50 purchase when its bought. All im saying is that most ppl that are buying the wii (like myself) are getting it for REAL games (like Zelda, wario ware) not an over glorified tech demo. Plus nowadays, even nintendo knows that nobody is going to consider a console without some sort of online play solution, but considering very few ppl use wifi then its only logical to assume that most ppl are gonna have to buy the lan adapter.

This is not rocket science, this has nothing to do with my "love for MS". Its fact.

Disagree all you want, but to say that you need to buy a wifi adapter to play games on the wii is a fuckin lie. You don't need internet at all for any of the consoles (and if you go by xbox live only 10% cares at all). The same with the wii sports its a game no matter what you call it, its a game, that's like saying super mario bros for the nes or supermario world for the snes isn't games. This make you the definition of a sheep that tries to twist and turn everything to make your console of choice seem like the only choice.

And I'm sorry if my thoughts that when you release a new console you shouldn't just revamp the old one but try to create something new offends you all.

And I get that some people don't like the same thing I do or others do, and thast the ps3 isn't for eveyone and the same goes for x360 and the wii. But I don't try to force my way on to people and drag the other consoles in the dirt, or when that doesn't work attack other persons for their opinion.

its a good thing they're not trying to confuse us by tricking us into buying optional required parts  huh.gif

fetus is a sorry individual indeed.  he goes on about connectors and disk drives when you really should be looking at the technology under the hood.  the Wii uses composite connectors out of the box and so does the ps3.  hell the ps3's AV port is ancient!

call me a sheep all you want, but at least im not blind to what i see in front of my face.

He's worse than kira. blink.gif

If i went by his logic then lower the 360 estimate u used cause you dont have to have a $50 game at launch. Get doom from XBLA. Thats a game everybody is buying 360 for, right? rolleyes.gif

are you buying the wii with just wii sports? The MAJORITY is gonna buy a game regardless of if it comes with wii sports. Now if it was like the nes days when mario/duck hunt came with the system, It wouldnt be necessary to get a second game. BUT the game is a tech demo for Christ's sakes. Lets be honest with ourselves here. There is a reason its packed with the system. It wouldn't sell on its own!

The funny thing is, if you added the game and the adapter it would still be cheaper than the other systems and your precious nintendo pride wouldn't be hurt but ofcourse (this is where u draw comparisons to kira) logic is not ur strong point. I just wanted a fair comparison.  Quick to call ppl names, like a little kid.

You dont need internet to enjoy a game but what about all those great features nintendo was talking about. Like the wii sleeping and all that crap. It would be pointless without the internet now would it. Online is very important. You claim only 10% cares then if thats the case then the 360 install base must be 40 million cause XBL has 4 million members rolleyes.gif

Now if you consider the fact that most ppl are probably gonna have one wiimote/nunchuku combo (since its so expensive to own both) then online multiplayer is gonna be important for the wii. Wouldn't it?

I was gonna let this go but, I just can't stand idly by, yes XBL has 4 million users (with probably 10% being free months), this comprehend both the 360 and the xbox1 wich is about 30mil units so okey maybe it's almost 20%. Wii sports isn't bundled in japan but will be sold seperatly, it's just bundled in NA and europe cos they think we won't understand it otherwise. So I'd say its a game alright, even if you think its a tech demo. And then to be fair if internet is so important shouldn't you add the 50$ per year for xbox live then? Guess that slipped your mind...

Yes the wiimote nunchuck combo is 10$ more then the xbox or ps3 controller, but will probably also be twice as fun to play with multible players. So I think many will buy spares or just get their friends to buy their own.
