Sony Responds To Ps3 'fact Sheet' Critics

1st, here is the fact sheet. Nice going Sony.  dry.gif

2nd, here is their response to critics.

Sony is a bunch of liars and I hope that M$ does take legal action.

We hear Microsoft ain't too happy about this chart either and is preparing certain legal action, namely because it could be misleading to otherwise unwitting retail employees selling customers game consoles this holiday season. Go figure.

Why doesn't Sony bash the Wii? It doesn't even have the option to buy those add-ons, yet the 360 is the "worst" console. Maybe because Sony doesn't feel like they're competitors?

It all depends on how you see it they maybe should have used a small * and but in *to match the ps3.
I wonder what people who wants everything the xbox360 gives in addons feel about the price they paid for having the choice not to.

And I don't know why they even left the wii in there, it's free good PR for the big N

Hey how about these next gen price comparisons between PS3 and 360: What is needed to experience the total and complete hi-def and online experience between the systems.

PS3:
Premium system: $600
First party PS3 HDMI cable: $30-50
First party PS3 game(RFoM): $60
Total: $690-$710

Xbox 360:
Premium system: $400
HD-DVD: $200
First party Xbox 360 HD Component cable: $0 (comes with premium system)
First party Xbox 360 game: $50 (not including Gears of War)
12-month Xbox live: $50
Total: $700

The prices are closer now if you include what the 360 premium comes with and what the PS3 Premium doesn't come with.

xbox 360
100$ for the wireless adapter
25$ for a usb cardreader
50$ per year for live
And since I'm already dubbed the biggest fanboy since kira, you'll need to buy 2 20gb hdd for 200$
Remodd the ethernet port to support 1gb

~1075$

Ps3
~50$ for the headset on the ps3
hdmi cables aren't more then 20$

~750$

And reality sets in.....

Premium 360, Live and a game = 510.00 before tax

cables and headset included, hd dvd is not required.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

cheap PS3, headset, Sony Component cable(99.99999% of people will be using this and not hdmi and last I checked, there werent straight RCA jacks on the back), and game = about 630 before tax. Thats a 2 game difference mind you.

The chances of finding this model? Hahahaha. They even admit they will market the costlier one just as MS is.

So its now 730.00 before tax.

Thats reality, its what people want and what people will buy. Comparing the HD movie playback aspects is lame, its a game machine and people dont know what bluray is like they knew what dvd was when ps2 launched.

They wont be buying it to play movies like they did with ps2, if you think otherwise, wow. Im talking about the majority of gamers, NOT Scene members so READ and THINK before you reply with a typical irriational response.

They will go to Best Buy in a few months, plop down 640.00 for the thing, get it home to their tv that will support Component, open the box and find out its Not included. They will want to jump online and start talking with their friends, Oops, gotta geta headset too.

System, headset, ONE game and HD cables + Tax = 770.00'ish

Thats reality.

I paid 742.00 at launch for the Premium and FIVE games(that price Includes tax). Throw in Gold Live(because if I dont, you'll have to have your diaper changed suffering from uncontrollable shit fits), and it comes in at 792.00 total. A whopping 22.00 more than the PS3 with ONE game.

Gee, I guess its not all about the software/games suddenly? Damn, theres that corner again.

too bad it isn't needed for a 1Gb ethernet port to be on a 360. It would be just wasted hardware for right now.

edit: also when i said total and complete online experience, i didn't add the wireless adapter because for some people their xbox 360 is right next to their router and/or there is too much interference across a house or in an apartment. Wireless adapter may make it worse in some cases.

How much would ~100mb or RAM added to the PS3 motherboard be, to equal the available RAM on a 360 for gaming?

its very true, all that he has said.  these are game systems and nothing any company is going to say or spin it will change this fact.  do we need blu-ray or hd-dvd??  obviously not.

i think its great if microsoft took legal action, it would be a good bitch slap to all those that like to shoot their mouth off at sony.

lol, I suppose that is a solution
Why did you use first party HDMI cable when I've posted links to good quality $5-$17 HDMI cables.  You also left out wireless in the 360 section.  So either use the $5500 PS3 or add another $100 to the 360 list.

Def made a good post, not everbody needs or wants certain feature sets.  Pick the console that makes the most sense to you and your needs/wants.

Well isn't this a first party comparison?.... sure you can do cheaper... but MS includes a first party HD cable. hence to do a comparison yuo need a sony firsdt party...

Sure... you have Wireless in the PS3.. but I for one can't use it, my place is all wired up for max. stability...
btw.. are the cheap ps3 going to have wireless??

So let me get this straight....

Because $ony are forcing the Blu-Ray format onto people, it's now a REQUIREMENT ????

If this is the case, why is the Wii even in the comparision chart?

Also, it's just plain stupid to list the Core 360 and price in the extras at that point: if you wanted a HDD, headset and 12 Months Xbox Live, you would buy the premium version.

Here's my simple, easy to understand chart for the UK:

Requirements to enjoy next-gen Gaming

Xbox 360
Console - 199.99GBP

Nintento Wii
Console - 179.99GBP

Playstation3
Console - (RRP) 424.99GBP (no pricing for 20GB version in the UK and also not available on release)

Total cost of the Wii60 : 379.97GBP
2 consoles for less than one PS3.

I'm pretty sure the US prices aren't too far off these comparisons either.

This takes the spin out of it all - these are games machines and designed for games. The fact that MS have released an optional HD-DVD drive and $ony have forced the Blu-Ray onto consumers has little to do with it.

If people really want a serious HD solution they'll buy a HD player, not rely on a games console to do the work.

I wonder why there is so much hate on ps3 and its tech features. Whenever I buy new tech stuff I ussualy make sure it can handle new and upcoming features and technologys. I wouldn't for one go buy a 3d card today since we will get dx 10 in 3 months. I wouldn't buy the xbox360 addon since I can't get the best sound nor picture out of it. I wouldn't go buy a new wireless router until the 11n is out. All I can say is in my book xbox360 is already a last generation tech console, nextgen gaming. But I ussualy go for broke, and it seems so is Sony it worked with the dvd on ps2, lets see if hdmi and blueray will last.

And yeah Martinchris23 europeans are getting robbed

ok i'll give you the 1st gen, but then use the $500 PS3 without wireless.  Both have 20GB HDDs and match up evenly in all other respects.

So it should read:
PS3:
Core system: $500
First party PS3 HDMI cable: $30-50
First party PS3 game(RFoM): $60
Total: $590-$610

Xbox 360:
Premium system: $400
HD-DVD: $200
First party Xbox 360 HD Component cable: $0 (comes with premium system)
First party Xbox 360 game: $50 (not including Gears of War)
12-month Xbox live: $50
Total: $700

I would be hating on the 360 if it had HD DVD built in making the price higher then it isnow. You havent been around long enough to know that I bitched up a storm here when it was rumored they were going to add it in.

When I get into HD movie viewing, I will buy a stand alone player, as would any respectful home theater guru. Again, this is how I personally feel about the whole HD comparison.

When a launch happens, regardless if it was saturn, ps1, dreamcast, xbox, or 360, the number 1 thing is "I need more money for games! 1 or 2 isnt enough!" Ask Kage how I go nuts and want as many as possible at launches  jester.gif

The LAST thing I'd be thinking about is what kind of media it plays. back to my previous post...

Premium 400.00
Live 50.00
3 games 180.00
Total = 630.00 before Tax

Cheap PS3 500.00
Cables 30.00
Headset 30.00
1 game 60.00
Total = 620.00 before Tax

If you come home and use the ps3 to watch movies, well thats your perogative. Id much rather get my new console home and try out 3 games compared to 1.

Im still thankful they didnt slap a HD DVD drive into it, raising the price. It would have been another 100.00 easy and thats almost 2 games right there  grr.gif I had to scrounge for launch too, seems Im always strapped financially when the times comes  laugh.gif

Ive never had less than 4 games for a system launch. Dreamcast holds the record at 7 or 9, it was one of those.

 pop.gif

Wow im rambling. its 7am, I just got off a 10 hour shift, Im allowed to make no sense!  ph34r.gif

Yes to get a game and a next gen console for gaming purpose only you can either pay.

wii 250$
x360 350-360$
ps3 560$

But some/many people want do it all consoles, mobilephones etc.
The price will be alot more for the ones that doesn't have it to begin with and will have some serious drawbacks
