I plan on getting a PS3, but I'm actually getting a Wii at launch. I want to get Legend of Zelda: TP as I've been waiting for that game for ages. That game will probably hold me over until Super Smash Bros Melee which me and my crew will own all ya mofos.
Btw, while you guys continue to talk nonsense about how hard it is to develop and whatnot, I'm STILL all about the games. And that is still my #1 priority and experience with the industry. Lets just keep this to an era for example. I've owned a PS1, PS2, Dreamcast, Nintendo Gamecube, Xbox and have had friend's N64 and Sega Saturn to play. I've played nearly every AAA game available for EACH CONSOLE, even to completion. FACT is, that Playstation brand still posseses most of those AAA games that I've ever experienced. Hell PS2 STILL continues to have more AAA titles in the past year alone, compared to Xbox 360. This is why I argued with you guys and why you guys continue to not see my point, and still try to continue the argument in some way, shape or form. I'm all about the games, you're all about the technology.
Now that doesn't mean I'm not about the technology, but there's a limit to where I'm comfortable with a piece of technology, and become an installed user. I don't know what kind of consumers you are, but obviously very biased (or very poor) one. I can clearly see that PS3 is an awesome piece of technology, and so are the 360 and Wii in their own respective rights. If I had enough money to buy a 360, then I sure as hell have the income to buy a PS3 and definitely a Wii. Also considering that most of you have HDTV's to play this on, the price issue is really non-existant. It's all in your bias.
My viewpoints on the PS3 come from the games and what kind of future that PS3 holds for the games and franchises that I like to play. Most, if not all, of you don't see that. When you see PS3 as doomed to fail, going by the price, technology or whatnot, I don't see it that way because I see PS3 as having a bright future to succeed, for the games alone. That's why I don't accept your views, and how I am made to sound like a fanboy. How am I a fanboy when I'm a true gamer? I play AAA games on ALL CONSOLES, including PC whenever I get the chance to play them. To this day I'm still playing WoW which has 7mil+ subs and counting, its the TOP MMO in the market right now.
Everyone and their mama are going to be biased. If M_hael and his colleagues think that PS3 isn't that good (based on a variety of factors including difficulty of work) then that's their own bias. I've heard a developer talk in a video interview and he said that of course you're going to have your staff, and someone or a group of people are going to be biased. There are some that's going to like the platform, and some that don't. Well its what they're working on, so if work doesn't go easy for them, then they hate it. Plain and simple, it happens in every workplace. Most of what you read on the internet IS propaganda, no matter how you twist it, and I've proven that on some level, whether people want to accept it or not. Clearly users here have not, because you're standing on one side of the spectrum and I'm standing here with only 1 or 2 people who aren't biased enough and more gamers than anything.
Ever since the Xbox, we've had tech geeks come in and talk about how their console was more powerful, how their system was more easier to program for, and after all this talk, PS2 still owned them. Xbox had a chance to develop a slew of killer apps, and still to this day there's only a handful of real killer apps thats for everyone to play. PS2 had that, and continues to have that (Okami anyone?) and it's a fucking FACT. Anyone well versed in PS2 software library will tell you that you are flat out wrong, if you try to argue the last-gen's trio of games versus PS2.
In this new generation of consoles, there again exist the geeks that talk so much about technology, and the politics of it all, but still fail to realize that in the end, none of that matters b/c its gonna be about the games. PS3 to me, has some titles that I want at launch, but the real killer titles I'm looking for aren't coming until next year. The thing is, I KNOW that they're coming next year, and I know that I want them. It's the same w/ the 360, until their next batch of killer titles comes out (Lost Planet, Lost Odyssey, and so on), I still won't buy one. I don't want to buy Oblivion, DR and a few other titles and get stuck for the rest of the year, I finish games quickly so 1 or 2 games a month would be acceptable.
Some of you need to get a grip, and start thinking on a whole new level, and let go of the hate, let go of the bias and stop talking like a MS employee. I might be biased towards Sony (for its franchises) but that still doesn't mean I'm not a gamer or a fanboy or whatever insults you want to throw at me. I still know myself that I always end up getting every major consoles, and enjoy AAA games or exclusive games on that console. That doesnt make me a fanboy. That makes me a true gamer.
