sorry about the hdd comment guess i shouldve realized that from common sense as far as the size of the wii anyways not gonna be much involved....as far as why i care about BC on the wii compared to my modded box is the fact of have you ever played more then 20% of your roms without any issues....it will just be so much more simpler and compatible on the wii, and the retro controller...too bad you couldnt just plug in an previous nintendo controller into the wii console now that would be sweet smile.gif

Well things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them.

For me the Xbox 360 was worth $400 for HD graphics, wireless controllers and numerous launch titles that I wanted
The Wii is with $250 for the motion sensing wireless remote, virtual console and Numerous Nintendo brand games that I want
The PS3 is not worth $600 I like the HD graphics, wireless controllers but there aren't many supposed launch games that interest me, so it isn't enough for me to spend $500 or $600 on the console

If he doesn't see anything in the Wii worth his $250... well then the Wii isn't worth $250 to him.  smile.gif

AFAIK The $250 includes:

1 Wii Console
1 Wii-Mote
1 nunchuck Wii-mote attachment
1 Wii-Sports Game

Additional Wii-Motes cost $40
Additional Wii-Mote attachments costs $20 (this includes nunchuck, zapper, and retro controller)
Video cables will be the same as previous Nintendo consoles
There are no official memory units the system just uses SD cards

It also features 512MB internal memory which IMO is more then enough considering the biggest N64 game was about 32MB and most N64 games are between 4MB and 8MB SNES and Genesis games are substantially smaller and You could probably fit the entire NES catalog in that space.

Also the Wii-Motes include internal memory that save your settings and gamer profile, I'm not sure how much they actually hold but apparently it's enough to contain your profile, and all its settings including your "Mii" Avatar.

Does that hold true for the component cables?

According to the spec sheet it only has a "Multi-AV Port" there is no mention of a Digital AV port like the early GameCubes had.

HOWEVER the Multi AV port does have provisions for component video, particular version of both the SNES and N64 supported component video and RGB through the Multi AV port... some versions of those consoles, and all other Nintendo consoles had that featured disabled (for some strange reason).

The Digital AV port on the Gamecube was nothing more then a Japanese D-Terminal connector, which provides a signal similar to VGA... the plug was so huge because it basically had circuitry to converter the VGA like signal to Component video... I would imagine in Japan you could have purchase any old D-Terminal through connector for your 480p gaming, similarly you probably could have imported any D-Terminal to Component converter cable instead of buying the official Nintendo cable.

So the Wii might not have the D-Terminal (aka Digital AV port) but more likely it will simply re-enable Component over multi AV... Personally I prefer the D-Terminal as it provides a slightly better signal, but seeing as the console doesn't even support HD it doesn't make that big of a difference.

EDIT: Actually I take that back... nintendo apparently has gone on record as saying the following wont be wii compatable: Gameboy player, broadband adapter, modem adapter, av cables, and power adapter.

Further I just dug up some photos:
IPB Image
^ 4 Gamecube Controller ports and 2 Gamecube Memory Unit ports (though I'm curious how the wavebird adapters will fit in there, unless the console can connect with them directly, otherwise that might be some kind of ugly)

IPB Image
^ The best picture of the back pannel I can find... I imagine the square to the right is for USB ports, the Square with one rounded edge on the left is for power which means that rectangular shaped one is for AV, and it doesn't look like the Multi-AV OR the Digital AV port from the Gamecube... probably something completely new so Nintendo can make some AV cable profits again (since they've used the same cable design since the NES days)

i think there is noway to plug the Wavebird on this, there is a flaw in the flap (unless it opens up all the way flat).  unsure.gif

I suppose there's also a chance that Wavebirds could communicate with the console directly  smile.gif  Which would be friggin sweet.

I would definitely bet on that. This NINTENDO we are talking about, not sony. tongue.gif
