Not Good News For Sony
« Reply #15 on: February 22, 2006, 12:13:00 AM »

The 360 will be fine and will have a nice lifespan.  Posting a thread like this in Xbox360 General Seems more like rubbing it in than posting news.

Ps3 Fanboys are not your enemy, nor revolution Fanboys.  The People above you on the XBLA leaderboards are!

As a gamer it's your duty to be disappointed if the ps3 slips just incase it was stupid fun and you could be enjoying it sooner.

Sony's shares drops after news of the $900 cost for PS3. $900 is a bit much for a game system.

900 is the cost to build not the retail, realisticly I see 500 which is high IMO but it all depends on the cost of blu ray when PS3 comes out.

Yeah I know what you mean, but Nintendo's there to compete against them at least tongue.gif
I feel you, God of War was a great game.
So was Ico....
I love those games but I don't think their sequals will buy me this time.
I might borrow a PS3 just to play these games at least.

But a very cheap and affordable PS3 can change all of that tongue.gif

Ico was the shyt!....the game no one played, I tried lending it out to friends to share the gaming bliss, but they never could find the time to play....at least Shadow of the Collosus got some recognition...the first PS2 game I've seen that had some kind of motion blur....of course it was to hide the frame drop....it was like below 15 fps...that stuff hurts my eyes sad.gif ....they really should've left it to the PS3, you know, 1080p at 120fps  dry.gif ...I don't think gaming quality will be hurt if Sony goes, if MS and 3rd parties come out with crappy games, we just won't buy them....and nintendo will be #1 again...but I doubt that'll happen, especially with the lineup 360 has on the way smile.gif ....things should be pretty intersting by the end of the year...

i still can remember people speculating and assuming that sony was doing a world-wide launch in the spring this year  laugh.gif

i knew IF they released in the spring it would only be in japan.  however when there was no new news (and i dont count the MGS4 trailer thrown in at the last minute as news) at the TGS, i knew that they wouldnt be making the spring launch.  that would be similar to MS not having any news at last years E3 and saying they were launching 6 months later which didnt happen, they had atleast a couple of playable builds at E3 and many real-time gameplay game clips to prove that they were for real.

i say summer the earliest, and thats a big MAYBE.  atleast good will come out of a delay for the ps3 owners because this would give the developers more time to refine their launch games, and from reading so much about ps3 development it would seem that the devs. need all the time they can have.

in the end this could prove very interesting.  if MS really reaches their target of 4.5-5.5 million units sold by june (i think thats what date they mentioned) that would put a lot of pressure on sony.  to add to that, if MS can come close to 10 million units by the end of the year, then that would really put sony on the spot.  i forget who said it, and dont think its actually that simple, but someone said whoever reaches 10 million units sold first wins.  i know its not as simple as that but it does make a good point.  i still believe that sony will once again win this console war, however depending on when they launch it could be an up-hill battle.

i was doing some reading and i think its funny how no one can give an exact reason.  i have read everything from they are on track for a spring launch, any delay would be caused by pirocy issues (which i thought wouldnt be a problem because of blu-ray), and now technical issues relating to the PS3's "input and output [of] video and sound."   laugh.gif

wheres kenny k?  he usually has something intellegent to say on sony's behalf  rolleyes.gif

ultimately this is not good news for us, the gamers. All i care about is good games and having choices. The only thing that moderately pisses me off is how sony showed off those phony unplayalbe PS3 demo movies, fight night/killzone, that made everyone one freak out, like PS3 was going to be some kind of god machine. And now they can't even get the stupid thing to market.

Miggidy, I played through half of it, then 360 was released and I haven't turned my ps2 back on ever since, I was pretty much gonna wait and see when ps3 was released, if they were gonna do anything nice with their backward compatibility, maybe smooth out some o'dem jaggies and maybe frame rate....the gameplay is definitely there, Ico fans should totally dig it, the scope of these bosses are insane, especially for the ps2 hardware....I suggest playing through the first 2 or 3 bosses and see how you feel about it, frame isn't too bad when you're actually on the bosses, but there are ugly dips, at least you get 16x9 480p...the ending supposedly has some kind of tie or nod to Ico, I won't know till I actually finish it, who knows when and if....
