Xbox Error Code
« on: January 04, 2008, 07:52:00 PM »

I have had a soldered duo x2 chip for 2 years now (w/ a 400GB hdd).  I recently turned it on and got the red & green flashing ring, & the error code "5" in the upper left corner of my screen.  Along w/ all the gibberish about call for service in multi-language.  Can anyone tell me what is possibly wrong?  I did resolder a brand new mod chip in, but the same thing happens.  So im led to believe that it is NOT my mod chip, but something else.  Any suggestions, can this modded xbox be saved?  Please help!!!

Hi,

error 5 means that the harddisk is unlocked. Most modchip biosses don't care about the harddisk being unlocked, but the original xbox bios does. If it finds the harddisk unlocked, it will give you the error 5.

So, there is a big change that your modchip isn't working and that the xbox is booting from it's original bios.

This can be due to the fact that the D0 wire is giving bad contact. If you don't have the correct bios in your modchip, you will have the same problem. Most modchip's come without bios for legacy reasons. How did you got the bios on your new modchip? Does your modchip boot into some sort of setup menu?
I am not familiar with the duox g2.

regards.

sorry, I mean duo x2
