Not really news IMHO. We already knew by the PAL release of the PS3 that software emulation wasn't as good as the original hardware.

I was kinda surprised he gave it 84% although only 56% of his games worked as they should. This was a very generous score and I can guarantee that the other 46% would be played on the PS2 anyway.

He gave it that number because he included games that have only minor issues.  If you look at the BC site you'll see a lot of minor issues listed like, "At various points throughout the Opening FMA sequence, the graphics jitter" (from FFX).  So it may not "play like it should", but an issue like that hardly matters.
