Playstation Premiere 2007 Unveils New Products in Japan

Today, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan held the Playstation Premiere 2007 event in Tokyo.

* Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi announced in the event that it will release Gran Turismo 5 Prologue in October and will also be featured at the Tokyo Motor Show on the same month.

* And here's what everyone's been waiting for. Hideo Kojima demonstrated the gameplay segment of Metal Gear Solid 4 on actual PS3 hardware for the first time. Kojima showed Snake using his camo suit to disguise himself as a bronze statue, hide in barrels and trash cans. He also showed Snake knocking down enemies rolling the barrel while he is still inside it. After feeling some discomfort, Snake "revives" as he is given a female idol magazine. The producer also revealed that an online multiplayer mode will be in the game and more details will be announced at the 20th Anniversary Party next week.

* Lastly, Square-Enix showed new footage for Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. This will be shown at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show event and a realtime demonstration will be expected sometime next year.

hooray games!

I'm curious if GT5P will be a worldwide release in October or Japan in October and the rest of the world later...

that title could certainly help the PS3 this holiday if it is in-fact worldwide.

GT5, MGS4 and FF are all very well, and i want to play all 3 badly, but i already knew they were coming and i still don't want to buy a ps3 at that price for these 3 games.

you might not want to buy a PS3 for those 3 games (FF/MGS/GT5), but I sure as hell know a lot of people are who real excited about these 3 games (including me), but im waiting for GTA4, so for me these games will just be another benefit of having a PS3

but those 3 games don;t justify me buying the console until it's more than half the price it is now.

yea sorry grim_d if my post seemed a bit negative, i understand it doesn't justify it for you personally, and we're all entitled to our own opinion of course, games are simply a matter of taste... i was just trying to say theres a lot of people who will buy the PS3 for those 3 games alone

I guess im in your shoes as well, I wouldn't buy a PS3 just for those 3 games, they certainly are not worth $500 (or even $400)... but GTAIV itself easily justifies the price for me

with those 3 games being a benefit

Then there is UT3

Which I am very excited for, I hope it sells well and brings in some new players or converts some Halo fans to the UT Franchise

Lair, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk (old in name only), Echochrome, Folklore, and LittleBigPlanet (just after the holidays in Feb 08). There you go. New games... all coming fairly soon (only LBP is after the new year).

hXr.eXe, you better believe UT3 supports a Mouse/Keyboard on the PS3

As well as mods

As well as Sixaxis (Controlling your hoverboard via Sixaxis motion)

The reason I'm getting a PS3 is mostly for GTA4 & UT3... Although I will enjoy BluRay movies, MGS/FF/GT5, Linux, and all the other fun stuff in the PS3

yes your right, they are a matter of taste, and that's why they should be trying to appeal to everyones taste, i mean I'm really not a hard guy to please, games wise, but I'm thoroughly unimpressed thus far.

gtaIV and UT3 will both arrive on 360, exclusive content on 360 for gtaIV and if i have to wait a year for UT3 so be it, if i even want to buy it, the last time i enjoyed UT was the first one, all that came after if were stupid and annoying with their ridiculous game modes., i just wish there was like 20 GREAT games coming out for it so i can buy a ps3, because i really want one, i just don't want it collecting dust.

You're a hard man to please. I mean, what sort of games are you looking for then? All the games I listed are new IPs except for Warhawk... and Warhawk shares nothing in common with PS1 game by the same name. And so far all of those games are looking pretty good. So in what genres are wanting to see some new games?

i think the price of the console itself it's sort of swaying my opinion on the games, i'm sure i'll like all the games you mentioned, apart from warhawk, i don't like flying games.

What i'm looking for right now are a bunch of games that make me go "wow, i need to get me a ps3", right now all they are making me say is "oh i wouldnt mind playing that, but im not dropping £425 for the oppertunity.

Theres 3 games i really want to play on the ps3 are MGS4, FFXIII and LBP, i wouldnt mind GT5, but i'm not expecting much there. For arguments sake, let's say that MGS4 and FFXIII are never coming to 360, 4 games worth? I can wait until i can pick up a ps3 for much, much less.

I just feel that alot of people feel the same way and that's why the consoles are not shifting off shelves the way they should be, i think the price of the console is a small concern if there was a good solid library of games i could see were coming soon.

This what I'm talking about. Warhawk was a flying game on the PS1, but on the PS3 it's going to be a Battlefield sort of game, complete with planes (Warhawks), jeeps, tanks, missile turrets, flak cannons (for killing those pesky Warhawks), and on-foot combat. I was in the beta and it was hell of a lot of fun.

Well, all the new games I listed before plus the existing series are going to be more than enough to validate the PS3 for me. Plus I get great use out of the PS3 as a BR player.

Anyway, here's the full list of games I'm currently interested in that should be here this year:

Heavenly Sword
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Ratchet and Clank
Warhawk
Hot Shots Golf 5
Folklore
Lair
Time Crisis 4

These are the some of the games coming in the future I'm interested in (this list should grow, obviously):

LittleBigPlanet
FFXIII
GT5
SOCOM
MGS4
God of War 3 (we all know it's coming)
White Knight Story
KillZone 2
Infamous
The Agency
Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier

Then there are PSN downloadable games like Echochrome and Everyday Shooter. I'm sure there will be plenty more of those as well, but they tend to pop up with less notice than the full retail games, so I'm not sure what all is coming.

For me personally, the games coming this year alone, plus the games I have now and the use I'm getting out of the PS3 as a BR player way more than enough to justify the price. Those top 5 games I listed I'm looking forward to more than just about any other games on any systems. I'd probably only put Halo 3, Mercenaries 2, and UT3 equal to or slightly above them.
