How Sony Will Counter the Halo 3 Beta: Killzone2 Demo?

Rumors pointed at the game's intended resurgence at their pre-launch Gamers' Day event last year. Ultimately, if the rumors are to be believed, Sony shelved showing Killzone 2 in favor of spotlighting Insomniac's new shooter franchise (and it will be a franchise) Resistance. The same rumors have pointed to Killzone 2 being much further along than previously expected -- with the apex of the rumor arc concluding that the game has been playable online for almost a year.

Expect a playable Killzone 2 demo to be released (hmm, Phil Harrison is keynoting at GDC...) before gamers are participating in the beta for Halo 3.

Maybe they should release another CG trailer and say it is realtime ingame footage, that seems to get peoples attention.

The only problem is that they will have work twice as hard to make this disception as real as possible. I would recommend taking Halo 3 screenshots and ingame footage and putting a Sony game logo on it, then they could show ingame footage of the game actually being played. Since they have already borrowed graphics from other x360 game this should be old hat by now.

Lastly I would follow up with insulting the Europeons for no reason at all, maybe increase the price in that region, or only release wired controllers. This will make people in Japan and North American feel more important, because they are.

I think this is inline with the current Sony strategy, let me know if you notice any errors in this plan.

Killzone demo sound good to me... really, I'd just like them to release anything new to the PS Store.

Even though I find it somewhat unlikely that we'll see a real demo of this game given its track record, a REAL multiplayer demo would be very nice.

I wonder if it will be only stereo like the motorstorm demo (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Give us 7.1 Linear PCM, like Resistance has.

I dont get it, why do ppl care so much about killzone? I've seen many CGI trailers of crappy games, why does this crappy game standout?

No matter how much icing they put on it its still gonna taste like shit!

not sure what Sony is up to... but Killzone 1 was gonna be the Halo 2 killer... AKA Halo for the PS2 (according to Sony that is) and it flopped.

now Sony SHOULD void comparing or competing Killzone 2 to Halo 3 at all cost. though this news is a free advertising to keep the console war strong
