Any ideas what would cause an xbox not to boot passed the splash screen.  It displays the X with microsoft but doesn't go anywhere after that.  I've put a chip in it and it's still doing the same thing.  The drive is locked and I have no means of unlocking it as I don't have the eeprom file and I've flashed the chip with a bios. It's a Duox 2 GS.  I'm going to try a linux distro live cd when I get home to see if that works but looking for ideas.

It won't even boot a game.

It's a friends xbox and said he was playing around with parental controls is it a possiblility that he killed his eeprom?  If so I thought  chip bypassed that.
