Final Fantasy got boring after FF6. Seems like Sony is just milking it for all its worth now.

Looks sweet.  I hope it's turn based like the old games.  FFXII sucks, everyone I know says it's not final fantasy without the turn based fighting.  I see a lot of people bashing turn based games on these forums but they're my favorite games, and same with all of my friends who still play video games.  We grew up playing all the final fantasys, chrono trigger, breath of fires, all those games.  I still replay them on my emulators.  They never get old.  I think all their games have been crap since square merged with enix.  Hopefully they return to squaresoft quality without enix f*ing their games up.  I'm more looking forward to Lost Odyssey.  To me, Mistwalker is the new Squaresoft.

Final Fantasy.....  sleeping.gif

They all look the same and have roughly the same gameplay (FF XII) being the exception.

At least Mistwalker does more innovative things i.e. artwork between Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon.

I wonder what sony has to do with square?

Mr.Me how far have you gotten on BD to exclaim Mistwalker the new squaresoft? The do seem to have enhanced the ATB a bit, can't wait to see how the game plays when it hits our shores. Hopefully they will be able to remove all the kinks left, in according to IGN, so we get a more final version.

I have some hope for camelot making a wii rpg, and if they can do as good as they did with Golden sun, they might be able to claim the prince status. But its still ways to go to rival square who still releases top notch FF titles, and also gives us seiken densetsu and other nice titles many of wich are coming to the DS.

But I really want the next installment of the chrono saga, Chross was so amazingly good, and trigger is still one of the best games ever

I just called Mistwalker the new Square because it's made up of ex squaresoft employees and they got the Final Fantasy producer/Ex president of Squaresoft, the Final Fantasy composer, the Dragonball/Chronocross artist and other famous Japanese artist.  Pretty much anyone who matters.  Of course I haven't played their games yet but they look more final fantasy styled as far as game play goes then anything Squarenix has produced.  When I saw the first preview for Lost Odyssey I recognized the music as that of Nubuo Uematsu immediately.  He quit making music for Squaresoft after they joined with Enix and started making crap.  Only time will tell but as of now I'm looking forward to Lost Odyssey more then FFXIII.

umm... you obviously haven't played 9, and in each FF the skill/job/materia/license system is totally different
and dont get me wrong, I love akira toriyama but, everything he does looks like Dragon Ball laugh.gif  thats innovation?
and lost odyssey? chicks with blue hair, and guys that look like girls.....hmm...where have I seen that before......

Why would Uematsu music suddenly turn to crap when square joined with enix? Is ff XII music bad? Advent children had awesome music.  And why would he make better music for mistwalker? And where did you get the notion he is quiting composing for Square. Its not like he is owned by a company, he acctually has his own, Smile Please.

And you should re-read your facts on the BD game too. You are slinging some factual errors in there. Like you saying that the art is made by someone who did both dragonball and chronocross. noone that worked on Cross are employed by mistwalker they have two designers from trigger.

Mistwalker do have some serious potential on its payrole, and not making any of the graphics/code seems to be a smart idea.

And yeah the three FF's for PS didn't have anything incommon neither in style nor gameplay. X did look abit like VIII. haven't played XII yet so I can't comment on how it looks.

I'm more psyched about the DS releases since that is the only console I know I will own when the games are out. And FF III shows the ds has some real potential for RPGs.

It's not that he started making crappy music, but instead of him doing the full soundtracks he's only been doing a couple songs here and there for them ever since he quit Square and started his own company.  The other composers make good music too but it just doesn't have the same feel.

You're right, I always get the names of chrono cross and chrono trigger mixed up.  I was refering to Akira Toriyama, he did Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest and the Dragonball series.

I can't wait for all of these games, from both square and mistwalker.  It's been a long time since I played a good turn based rpg.

Uematsu didn't do the music for xii.  The music isn't bad though, its above average as far as videogames go.

So because the gameplay changes with every new game they release, that makes the new games worse?  How is change a bad thing?  Would you rather have all games stay exactly like pong?  Final Fantasy XII is good - if you're willing to get past the fact that it's combat system is different.

You do know that Hironobu Sakaguchi (started final fantasy and directed many of the games) is behind the Mistwalker projects Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, right?
