I think most people missed my point...
(which required reading between lines, which is a bit unfair, and I feel like taking off on a tangent anyway....)
-When it comes to multiplatform titles, systems that come late get the best deal. The game comes out first on the first system, and can be "ported up" where possible. Older multiplatform titles (Fight Night) see new features on new consoles, for example.
-When it comes to exclusives, these are always based on developer support for a platform.
The Wii clearly has the most exclusives, but that also has to do with the controller. Lots of titles HAVE to be exclusives because they had to be adapted for the console in more ways than graphics. But anyway, the order of number of exclusives coming in around the Wii/PS3 launch comes in the order Wii > 360 (if only due to Live Arcade's support) > PS3.
And that's reflected elsewhere by comparisons of games in development- the 360 and Wii have by far the most titles in development (exclusive or not) in the works. So the gap in releases will continue to widen. Especially in the exclusives department- the one area where people claim the Playstation brand really still holds an advantage.
So for a brand that's traditionally relied on its exclusives, this launch lineup looks worrisome. The biggest example is what looks to be Sony's standout game at launch- Resistance. It'll be instantly countered by m'f'ing Gears of War, Metroid, and Red Steel. Not a happy matchup. Even if Resistance is a truly great title and GoW winds up sucking, lots of players will be caught in the crossfire trying to sort out their impressions of all the titles. Then what's left? Ridge Racer*? Full Auto**? Genji***?
*-Ridge Racer 6 is one of the least popular games available for the Xbox 360. How is RR7 suddenly going to be a smash hit on PS3? Did they magically only suck on the sixth version, and suddenly the seventh will rule? Besides, the big guns are on the horizon. Forza 2, Mario Kart, Project Gotham 4, Gran Turismo 5..... lots of people are going to to be waiting for these big titles, I think.
**-Full Auto on 360 was like Ridge Racer in terms of popularity. Only worse. Or actually, it was outselling RR for a while.... although that's like saying getting punched in the chest beats getting punched in the eye. Full Auto 2 is suddenly going to be a great game on PS3? (not that it was terrible- just a little too shallow)
***-Just have to say some of the great lines: GIANT ENEMY CRAB. MASSIVE DAMAGE. REAL-TIME WEAPON CHANGE.
