September 28, 2006 (Rockville, MD) -- Bethesda Softworks® announced today that its blockbuster role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls® IV: Oblivion™ will be a launch title for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system this November in North America, and next March in Europe when the new console is expected to be released there.

Excited?Confused?Dissapointed?

So its coming to the PS3... 8 months too late

I thought that Oblivion was exclusive to the Xbox360 and PC? Its not going to effect me (I'm done with it for the most part), but Oblivion was the 360 owners bragging tool for a while. Now Sony zombies will try to rub it in our faces

people will compare this game and the other Fight Nite and such side-by-side to Xbox 360. and say it looks better on PS3, obviously it should as developers had nearly one year to improve it anyways...

I can't wait to see how it does in Japan. It is an RPG, but not the type that Japan is use to.

Well, it did crap and was utterly ignored on 360.
So it'll probably sell like hotcakes on PS3.

let it be known that the 360 sold 1,100 units the week leading up to TGS. The week after TGS, sales more than doubled  blink.gif

a whopping 2,300 people bought one!

man, i think if blue dragon and lost odysey fail in japan, then M$ should just stop trying to win over the japanese market.

The Japanese market just doesn't seem to like American games, but Americans sure like Japanese games

Japanese developers now know that to make money, they need to get their games to America and Europe. People will say "they need to stay and show support so the japanese developers continue support" I dont know if that makes sense at this point. Its getting to be embarassing for MS over there. The good Japanese developers will support MS no matter what.

User Base is everything and come january/february, if 8 to 10 million 360s are out there compared to 5 million Wiis and 2 to 3 million PS3s, they'd be foolish to skip over the 8 million 360 owners(worldwide mind you).

Look at Capcom, they are huge supporters of the 360 and it has totally flopped in their own territory. Team Ninja? No comment needed. So whos going to say "yeah but what about the little developers?"

WTF about them. If games like Lost Odyssey didnt impress the japanese much(which it didnt compared to Blue Dragon), the lesser known games wont sell a damn thing. Its time to stop embarassing themselves and they need to stop saying publicly that they will win the hearts of japanese gamers. It will Never happen, Thats the reality of it.

They hardly supported the GC, they surely wont support the 360.

At the end of 2005:Japan / Asia
PS2 - 22.83 million
GameCube - 3.98 million
Xbox - 1.97 million

Only double the original Xbox? And Peter Moore has the audacity to think the 360 will make a dent over there? I like the guy but he needs to be slapped around a bit. Like someone said after attending TGS..."MS needs 8 more games like Blue Dragon to even get their console noticed, let alone post impressive sales numbers"

I couldnt agree more. Buy Square and whoever else and it might help  pop.gif

^Such harsh words^

But i do agree with you

Hopefully whatever the xbox 360 doesn't sell in Japan it will sell in America (that makes sense right?)

Not that sales matter. Even though the PS2 outsold the Xbox1 in America, many people (at least the ones i know) thought the xbox was still better and that it had way better games for it.

Didn't xbox sell so well cos it's easy to homebrew, I don't know any xbox owner that hasn't modded the box. And neither of them bought it in the first place to get "great" games... xbmc ftw

90+% of xbox owners do not have their boxes modded.  Just because all most all here have a modified xbox, does not mean the majority does as well.

If the modding community and it's pirates are so few in numbers, why do they even put in millions of dollars preventing it from happening. And with even my 40 year old coworkers mod there xbox and put in a 400gb harddrive I'd say it's quite a common practice. I would guess at about 10%. And in certain areas I'd say it's more then 50%,like where I live.

But hey noone bought and played the silvers on ps1 either now did they.

And I'm happy to provide deftech

Either I belive more of my peers then I should, or it's just that my region is more consumer aware and the fact that 80% of the population has broadband Internet. And well anyone that still has a xbox and hasn't modded it yet is a fool.
