Screenshots are a really bad way to judge a game imo, full motion video is by far the best and gives you a real indication on the graphics quality , performance and other stuff like sharpness and rendering. If you looked up the actual videos of mgs 4 on gametrailer.com or something you would see a much different story. Also the game is scheduled for 2007, so there is still plenty of development time for Konami.
i am comparing the games in full motion. i still think that many games have matched or surpassed MGS4 in the graphical department. you have to admit that the game has degraded in graphical quality a lot since its announcement trailer and even then people were comparing it to GoW.
just by what i have seen in motion i believe that GoW, AC, BiA, CoD3, and SC: DA look better in both texture detail, number of particle effects, etc. sure MGS4 still looks great in some areas but im comparing the games as a whole in the visual department. also keep in mind that the majority of MGS4's movies were real time but not gameplay and it still lags in many areas.
i have said it in other posts, Kojima does a good job at covering up low poly environments and characters with smart textures to make them appear more detailed then they really are. in a way he was ahead of other engines (like UE3) that use textures over low poly meshes, and it started with MGS2.
