Sonys Lost Devil May Cry 4 To 360 And Wii!

Devil may cry 4 cancelled for ps3 come to 360 and wii instead?

Capcom's beloved Devil May Cry series may be coming to an Xbox 360 near you. DMC producer, Hiroshi Kobayashi, recently told Japanese magazine, Famitsu, that he expects Dante to make a next-gen debut on the Xbox 360 and Wii and not the PS3. Kobayashi also said that there will be changes in the games such as the fighting system and making the difficulty suitable for all players.

Sony to lose Devil May Cry exclusivity?
Posted May 18, 2006 at 01:39PM by Timo K.

Tags: Final Fantasy, Famitsu, Capcom, Japan In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Capcom producer Hiroshi Kobayashi hinted at the possibility of Devil May Cry heading to Wii and Xbox 360 as well, instead of just the PS3 for it's next iteration. This would be another big loss for Sony after MS announced the next Grand Theft Auto for the Xbox 360.

Kobayashi said he still isn't sure about the real power of Sony's new console, but expects the visuals of a new DMC title to look like the trailer shown at the E3 last year. He didn't reveal anything gameplay-wise except for a definitive change in the fighting system. In order to appeal to more gamers, it's difficulty will be lowered and controls will be made easier to master.

The Devil May Cry series was has been one of the biggest selling franchises for the Playstation 2, especially in Japan. And while Sony still holds key brands like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid, that may not be enough to convince most gamers to shell out over $500 for the PS3, when they'll be able to play most of the next-gen titles on consoles half as expensive.

Remember what Shinji Mikami said about RE4? How it was gonna be exclusive to Gamecube?  The lesson here is, don't take it from a developers mouth unless the company itself makes the claim.  We all know that if/when Sony makes it big, the company will be trailing along behind them, and totally change face.

I don't think the big problem is that it's NOT coming to PS3 but that it IS coming the 360 and Wii... A console without exclusive titles looses a lot of it's desire.

One of the biggest problems the 360 has is that most of it's good games are also availble on PC... so most people just get them there instead of buying a 360, since they already have the hardware, and in some cases it's cheaper.

The less exclusive titles Sony offers the less reason people have to buy the PS3 over a different console.

Of course if Sony looses the title altogether then that is even worse.

Games like Final Fantasy, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Metal Gear Solid, Guitar Hero.... they're all made by 3rd parties and there isn't much of anything keeping them from going cross platform.

To be perfectly honest there are only a small number of exclusive Playstation games that I buy the Playstation for, DMC is one of them... seeing as I already have a 360 that's ones one less reason for me to buy a PS3, even if it is released on it. DMC, Final Fantasy and Guitar hero are the only games left on the Playstation platform that I play that are exclusive to it... There's rumor that Guitar Hero is coming to the 360, now DMC... if Final Fantasy ends up on the 360 or Wii then I will no longer have any need nor desire to own a PS3. To give you a real life example as to how this could or would effect sales.

At least they DO have some good 1st party franchises that are guaranteed not to go anywhere, like Gran Torismo, God of War, Shaddow of Colosus, SOCOM, etc.

Yea I wouldnt say it isn't coming to ps3, but im surprised its not exclusive. Then again, kira made a good point. I wouldn't come to any extreme conclusions yet. I guess since the 360 and wii is alot more attractive they must be thinking to build it for them first and when it becomes profitable to make ps3 games they will make a ps3 version it'll be availabe for it. Makes sense to me.

I heard the guitar hero thing too. PLEASE NO FINAL FANTASY FOR THE 360!!! Sony can keep that one. Steaming pile of.... boring ass soap opera type....retarded combat...RRRRRRRRR grr.gif !!

They can Keep gran turismo too, hated it since GT2 came out. The original is classic though. Forza is classic too.

If you like FF ignore what I just said smile.gif

God of War is great. Shadow of collosus too. SOCOM SUX! grr.gif

O RLY?
Then what's this Metal Gear Solid: Subsistence that's out for Xbox?
And FFXI for 360?
And Solid Snake in Super Smash Bros?
Hmmm....

So the total for Wii60 comes to...
-Gran Tusimo: Neutralized. GT:HD was a laughing stock, and Forza keeps Xbox fans more than happy.
-Square/FF: Already on 360. Also see Gamecube's "Crystal Chronicles" for alternatives.
-Metal Gear Solid: Already ported, probably getting ported, Super Smash Bros cameo on Wii.
-Devil May Cry: Maybe no longer on PS3, but on the competition.
-Assassin's Creed: Almost certainly multiplatform, maybe even from day one.
...

Once again, things look laughably bad for the Sony camp. Er, unless you wanna keep putting faith in the forum rumors that maybe Oblivion or something will make the leap in the other direction... which if I'm not mistaken, has about 0 credibility.

again, YOU make it to look laughably bad, make it look how YOU want it.  That's not fact at all.

Gran Turismo: Gran Turismo has been a force to be reckoned with ever since GT1, and having JUST gotten a hold of GT4, and having been bought the GT3 as my 1st PS2, they are still in full force, and the best driving simulator anywhere.
Final Fanatsy: 360 may have XI, but they will never release a mainstream FF on an American system.  It's staying on PS3, that's a fact.  Gamecube's crystal chronicle was pure garbage and I expect the same from Wii version.
MGS: It will be exclusive for awhile.  And if the version is too powerful, or to big to port over for the 360, then it won't be ported.  Either way, MGS will fly PS3 off the shelves.
DMC: I doubt Capcom will make the same mistake they did by letting Shinji Mikami choosing the exclusive console of his choice
Assassin's Creed: well its multi-platform I guess, I'll take your word for that one.

so what ur saying is that sony gets the bread and butter while Nintendo and MS gets sloppy seconds?

You know FF for 360 sucked. Crystal chronicles suck. Substance was garbage cause it really had very little subsatnce.

F  A  N  B  O  Y

If, yes *if* motherfucker (sorry, but having read about 50 pages of your 'not so subtle bias' on this forum im getting a bit fucked off) Where have you got this *if* from. *if* only 'massive damage' could be achieved from day one. *if* only I could play games at a 1080p resolution. *if* only I was stupid enough to spend thousands on a home theatre set up, and then become a tight arse and not buy a standalone (lets face it, the PS£ -haha, funny mistake- is a good deal for BR, but relative to thousands of pounds on a proper set up; standalone all the way.)

You are a fanboy because you have no proof - if anything, from what ive heard, Kojima stated it was possible: yes hours of BR bullshit may prohibit a carbon copy, but you know what, i want games, not videos.

The only reason it might be difficult to port is not the size or the 'power' of the version; but the fact that the PS' architecture is so different, not better: which is what you imply, making you BLATENTLY biased.

http://www.ferrago.com/story/7049
http://www.oxm.co.uk...xbox_360_kojima

And nothing that i have said above makes me biased - apart from ps£, which was a genuinely pissed mistake, but still, not really bias.
